RT Films and Youngbloods WA present the 2011 Bullshit Battle of the Ad Bands
The ad industry’s best fun night of the year is on again as the WA Youngbloods and RT Films present the 2011 Bullshit Battle of the Ad Bands – Friday, August 19 at the Irish Club, Subiaco.
Already, five bands have signed up fromMarketforce, Meerkats, Gatecrasher, Brainestorm (again featuring bona fide rock legend Gary Taylor on bass) and The Brand Agency.
No word yet on whether 303 will be back to defend their title, or if Paul Siciliano andCooch will be there to give us all temporary deafness again – BUT WE HOPE SO!
However, with several agency departuresover the last twelve months – not the least of which is Johnny ‘Jailbait’ Barton from AC/GC – some of the band line-ups are going to look quite different.
Will they be better – like The Eagles with Joe Walsh – or worse – like (thanks Josh) Black Sabbath without Ozzy (pfft); Red Hot Chili Peppers (went all over the place when they were forced to swap John Frusciante for Dave Navarro, but got it all back together again when he re-joined in time for Californication); AC/DC without Bon Scott (controversial, but crap); Jimi Hendrix without the ‘Experience’ (a rambling mess); Nirvana without Kurt Cobain…Foo Fighters (kind of, but you get the point); Led Zeppelin reforming without John Bonham (even though they did have the next best thing in his son Jason); The Who trying to fill Keith Moon’s shoes with Ringo’s son Zak (lame); Oasis (so many lineup changes every single album – eventually they just ran out of members and broke up); The Grateful Dead (who even knows who plays for those crazy buggers these days?).
Anyway, if you’d like to get a band together and take the stage, contact the main man Ross ‘The Boss’ Tinney.
Last year’s Battle was an absolute blastand more than 300 people saw some great performances. So put the date in yourdiary now because you don’t want to miss it.
The Date: Friday 19th August.
The Venue: The Irish Club WA, Townshend Rd Subiaco. $10 entry for all including band members.
The Band Rules: Live, mime, song, dance, whatever. The more outrageous the better. Two songs max.

Does this mean Rich Black and the 5mm Bleed will reform…with the cow?
The cow has mooooved on
Yes, Rich Black and the 5 Mils Bleed will be there. As for our beloved cow, alas she has moved onto udder things.
What about wee-patch-guy?
Wee-man may be making a return but unfortunitly the famous stained jocks have been retired. We have recently made negotiations with Huggies to prevent this from happening again.
It seems that we have gathered some followers from last year and in light of this sudden fame we have recently created our fan page for the most up to date, inside information, and interaction with our fans.

on facebook to see Rich Black and the 5 Mils Bleed, The COW and Wee-patch-guy once again plus much much more.
He’ll be there. But I’m fairly certain his underwear has been changed.
Its true, I’ve spied some greener grass and have packed up my cowbell and mooooved into a different industry.
However this cow will come home for the big night. I’ll be making a racket in the crowd cheering on the second best band in the world. Rich Black and the 5 Mills Bleed, go you good thing.
P.S.
We need more cowbell
Beware of doing the same thing the next year. Didn’t work for 303, didn’t work for gatecrasher
I’m all for change. I’ve already suggested scrapping it all and forming a boy band. They don’t want to do it, though. So any recycling of ideas WON’T BE MY FAULT.
8.50am I think a boy band is just what the competition needs!
