WESTERN SUBURBS WEEKLY AUSTRALIA’S MOST AWARDED COMMUNITY PAPER

Perth’s Western Suburbs Weekly has become the nation’s most awarded community newspaper when it was named 2008 PANPA Newspaper of the Year recently. The Community Newspaper Group masthead took out the best newspaper award for non-daily papers with a circulation between 20,000 and 50,000 copies.

 The group’s website – www.inmycommunity.com.au – was also commended in the regional category of 2008 PANPA Online Newspaper of the Year. The Western Suburbs Weekly’s 2008 PANPA success follows hot on the heels the Community Newspapers of Australia southern division awards last month, where the masthead won best newspaper over 40,000 circulation for the second year in a row – trumping rivals from across WA, SA, and Victoria.

The newspaper has twice previously been awarded the title of PANPA Newspaper of the Year in 2002 and 2003.

Community Newspaper Group general manager Wayne Buttner said the awards recognised the newspaper’s highly successful editorial and sales format and the group’s commitment to exceptional pre-press and print values.
