Western Power makes the safe call with new campaign via J Walter Thompson Perth

In their first major campaign since awarding the consolidated account to J. Walter Thompson in late 2018, Western Power has launched the next evolution of the Make the Safe Call campaign.
The campaign encourages everyone in WA to stay safe in electrical emergencies and highlights their role in reporting any incidents and helping Western Power keep the community safe and grid-connected.
Joe Hawkins, Creative Director J. Walter Thompson Perth, said: “Winning the Western Power account was a huge way to end our 2018, and the launch of the new Make the Safe Call campaign is a huge start to our 2019.”
“The team at Western Power are as hungry for cut-through creative ideas and strategic thinking as we are to deliver it, and we’re particularly proud of our first collaboration in evolving the brand’s safety awareness messaging. And a big hat tip to the teams at Sandbox, Brainestorm and The Office of John Cheese for helping bring the ideas to life.”
Jill Goodwin, Western Power Brand & Customer Communications Manager said “Make the Safe Call is such an important message for us to ensure the safety of our community. All it takes is a call to Western Power, and it can significantly alter the outcome of an electrical emergency. JWT’s fresh approach to this campaign allows us to connect and empower our customers to keep their community safe.”

‘“Cut through creative!!” Come on. This ad is literally exactly the same as what Marketforce and Brand Agency did previously. Great use of taxpayers money…
Awesome work guys! That drone shot is mental!
@Mr Groundhog
Care to share those examples? If you mean previous executions had to have Western Power staff in them repairing something, that’s most likely a client mandatory. But you probably knew that, right.
Haven’t heard any previous Western Power radio that comes remotely close to what’s here.
Back in your hole.
So different

and are you seriously equating the TVC budget with the radio budget.
Why put agencies through the pitch process and then just get one agency to remake another’s spot. Hopefully the next lot of Western Power work will be awesomely different to have justified the thousands of hours three agencies put into pitching this.
It feels like we’re jumping in fast to sledge here, when the interesting conversation is still to come. There is only so much scope for change within safety advertising, and it’s always going to be a variation on a theme. But there is, no doubt, a bigger idea coming. The energy market is changing significantly, and the interesting opportunity is in how WP shifts the grid conversation and how the WA public view them.
Good luck JWT, we look forward to what comes next.
Who said anything about budget? You were talking about executions. And these feel different.
Pitches are also won and lost on lots of different criterea – creative ideas, strategy, price, relationships. It’s not AWARD School.
