West Australian startup Kojai invited to exhibit at Web Summit global tech conference
Perth tech company Kojai has been selected to attend the prestigious global tech conference Web Summit, where they will exhibit alongside giants Facebook, Google and Coca-Cola.
Launched in March this year, Kojai allows users to pin pictures onto a map and trace the places theyʼve been worldwide. The app finds their location using the phoneʼs GPS then allows users to upload a picture to appear on the map to share with friends on social media. Kojai can even share what song users were listening to when they snapped the shot.
“Weʼre so excited to have been invited to Web Summit where the tech world meets. Itʼs an excellent opportunity to showcase Kojai to the world and really achieve a global reach, which is what we have always envisioned for the app” said Amir Farhand, Kojai CEO.
The West Australian app has been hand picked from a long list of applicants to exhibit at Web Summit in Dublin this November. The annual three-day event will see thousands of web giants, journalists and venture capitalists searching for billion dollar ideas, with Drew Houston, the founder of Dropbox, Sean Rad, the founder of Tinder and John Sculley, former CEO of Apple on the guest list.
Kojai will be amongst them participating in the Alpha programme for startups, created to entice investors and excite the media.
Farhand said the unique feature of Kojai is that users can add friends, see great spots theyʼre visiting, share their own photos on social media and all accompanied by an original mini map. Kojai offers the distinctive opportunity to literally capture the moment you just experienced. The app is suitable not just for travelling but for blogging, bragging purposes or to show a favorite coffee shop.
“The past few months have been a whirlwind,” said Farhand. “The uptake has been terrific, and to be selected from hundreds of worldwide applicants to attend Web Summit is firstly incredibly gratifying after all our hard work, and more importantly will help us take Kojai global.”
Web Summit began three years ago and has grown from a 450 member meet-up of the tech community to the most influential and international tech event in Europe. It now creates a gathering of thousands worldwide and has helped hundreds of start-ups get off the ground.
