Weather didn’t stop Perth Adland from swinging for good at the UnLtd Open Perth
Wet and cold weather did not stop over 100 people across the Perth advertising industry coming together on 23 June to swing and putt for good at the UnLtd Open golf competition.
Held at the Royal Fremantle Golf Club and kindly sponsored by oOh!media and Yahoo, the event united the industry to play golf, have fun and to raise funds for the work that UnLtd do supporting charities helping young people at risk.
The golfers were treated to plenty of surprises along the 18 holes, with music, treats and competitions organised by the hole sponsors along the course. Golfers also had a chance to donate for a professional golfer to take their drive at the oOh!media hole, to raise funds for UnLtd.
The competition was played in Ambrose style and was open to all levels of golfers. The competition was tight with Seven West Media taking third place, OMD second and oOh!media securing the winning spot.
Jessie MacKinnon, Group Sales Leader at oOh!media Perth, said: “We are so proud to support UnLtd Open – it’s such a great day of golf, networking and making a positive difference for youth at risk. Winning the trophy was icing on the cake!
The nearest to the pin competition winners were Courtney Mitchell from OMD and Cindy Henderson from Carat. Longest Drive wins went to Darren Roberts from Elysium Consulting and Luke O’Sullivan from RAC. Luke Driscoll from Nova took home the SWM putting competition and the MiQ golf pong competition win went for Jake Burns and Jessie MacKinnon.
Warwick Kingston, Director of Media Tonic, representatives of Yahoo! In WA, said: “We loved supporting UnLtd: Open and getting the industry together to swing for good. It’s fantastic being able to connect with the industry over a sport that so many of us love whilst also helping raise funds for such an important cause. There are some great golfers in our industry – congratulations to all the winners!”
The other important competitions on the day were Nine’s Best Team Photo competition that Carat took home and the Fashions on the Fairway competition by Val Morgan that was won by SCA. The guests also heard from UnLtd’s WA-based charity partner Shooting Stars about the work they do to empower young aboriginal girls in WA to shoot for the stars through sports and arts.
Chris Freel, CEO of UnLtd said: “It’s been a record breaking year of impact from the WA industry, generating almost $5 million of impact for our three local charity partners, Shooting Stars, Dismantle and Radio Lollipop. It was great to celebrate that today, and also spend time with a couple of those charity partners this week and see that impact firsthand. Thanks to all in the industry who have played a part, either through working on campaigns, volunteering, attending events or even buying a raffle ticket.”
