WA’s The Communications Council and Media Federation of Australia join forces

The Communications Council and Media Federation of Australia (MFA) WA Chapters have today formally announced an industry alliance to work closer together on local industry issues, education and recognition.
Since November 2010, the national peak bodies have worked together solidly and in 2011 TCC WA introduced a state media membership to provide local media agencies the opportunity to participate.
With increasing momentum for The Communications Council in WA, the diversity of corporate membership and international affiliations soon to be announced, it was considered a good time for media members of the MFA to be recognised in WA and work together with TCC.
“The formalisation of this alliance between TCC and the MFA is a significant development in the communications industry. Jointly, our member agencies will benefit from the combined professional development and the strength of broader industry representation. It is a natural and logical alignment and will undoubtedly provide opportunities within the local industry” remarked Tony Scampoli (above left), TCC WA Chair.
“I am delighted that TCC has asked me to sit on their WA board as a representative of the MFA,” said Chris O’Keefe, Managing Director of Initiative (above right). “This close working relationship signifies a big step forward for the local industry, and will allow us to push the agenda of the media industry within the wider marketing ecosystem in WA.”
The Communications Council quarterly forums represent the opportunity for members to examine and provide input in the work undertaken by the current Executive Committee, TCC WA Chair Tony Scampoli, and Vice-Chair’s Gavin Bain and Colin Mackay-Coghill.
“The work undertaken by the Executive Committee has resulted in initial discussions with Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chamber of Commerce and Industry,” said Danielle Norrish, State Manager of The Communications Council. “With the MFA’s brand recognised locally, media agency involvement delivers further strength to the work in promoting the value of industry.”
Moving forward quarterly Council meetings will now represent the interests of The Communications Council’s 18 WA member agencies encompassing APMA (Australasian Promotions and Marketing Agencies) and PRC (Public Relations Council), MFA’s 4 WA media agencies and the PADC (Perth Advertising and Design Club).
