GavinBain_2017_BLOG.jpgThe Communications Council of WA Chair, Gavin Bain (pictured), has today announced an industry initiative that will see the broader creative industry work together to build greater awareness and understanding of the value commercial creativity delivers to Government, private enterprise, and the general public.

Earlier this year, Communications Council leaders and corporate members in Western Australia, the Perth Advertising and Design Club and Perth’s media organisations met at the Nine Entertainment studios to discuss major issues facing the industry.

As a result of the meeting, the Commercial Creativity & Communications Industries Alliance was formed and is now inviting other WA chapters of associated industries to join.

Bain said raising the credibility of and highlighting the depth of talent within the WA industry by advocating the important role commercial creativity, communications and innovation play in the contemporary business environment is the key objective.

“Our aim is to encourage and foster leadership and engagement within the broader industry, as well as building awareness around the value and incredible talent we harbour here in WA.”

He said The Alliance is a long-term industry initiative, with the first undertaking to collate and measure the overall contribution the industry makes in support of community services. The second is to form an industries agency, bringing like-minded industry stakeholders together to work on the development of a communications campaign.

TCC state manager Danielle Norrish said it was agreed unanimously at the meeting that now more than ever is the time for creative industries to work together, to build a broader understanding of its craft as well as the value of the industry, and to ensure commercial creativity and communications industry professionals are regarded as highly credible practitioners working to best practice standards and beyond.

Ray Wardrop, Managing Director, Channel Nine Perth said, “The Alliance will importantly be a vehicle in which industry can work together to invest in the future through best practice participation and activation.”

The Commercial Creativity and Communications Industries Alliance is currently endorsed by 38 organisations, and has formed a steering committee including:

  • Danielle Norrish, State Manager The Communications Council
  • Gavin Bain, Chair, The Communications Council WA
