TGS Fellows_HarrodDaviesRapleyCogin_BLOG.jpgFollowing an overwhelming response of over 120 applicants, The Glue Society has announced the four recipients of the 2016/17 Glue Society Fellowship.

Two of the chosen candidates – Kate Davies and Alice Cogin – are from Curtin University.

Davies is a current third-year student, and Cogin is a graduate, who recently left her role as an art director at Meerkats to pursue her career in Sydney.

They, along with Max Rapley and Alexander Harrod, have beaten a highly competitive pool of 120 people from around the country to be accepted into the program.

Allyson Crimp, Creative Advertising course coordinator at Curtin University, said it was the latest accolade for Curtin students.

“This comes hot on the heels of two other Curtin graduates  – Marina Vasilieva and Maya Halilovic – winning pencils at D&AD, and another Curtin graduate, Lauren Regolini, taking out AWARD School WA. We’re incredibly proud of their achievements and of the world-class talent coming out of the Curtin creative advertising program.”

Jonathan Kneebone, co-founder, The Glue Society, said: “We were astonished at both the number of applications we received for our first ever Fellowship – and blown away by the quality and range of skills on display from the vast majority of the candidates.”

“We narrowed our choice to 20 profoundly talented people who were all worthy of a place on the scheme, and in the end chose the four people we feel would most benefit from their year working alongside us.”

The purpose of the Glue Society Fellowship is to give young people the chance to establish their creative identity quicker than may happen with conventional creative placements – with the goal of fostering their abilities in both idea and execution, providing them an accelerated path.

“Far from requiring overt training, we imagine this group of creative people will be contributing their enthusiasm and energies to live projects as well as learning new skills across the multitude of disciplines we work across here – whether artistic endeavours, project direction or the creation of content,” said Kneebone.

The Glue Society this year celebrates its 19th year at the forefront of the Australian and international creative scene, and is represented by Revolver and Will O’Rourke for film and project direction.

Current members of the collective include Jonathan Kneebone (TAC, VW Naked Ute, Masterfoods) Paul Bruty (CGU, Telstra Air, ANB Footify), Pete Baker (History Channel, Headspace, GayTM/GayNZ), Luke Crethar (David Jones, Aldi, News.Com), Luke Nuto (42 Below, ABC, Elle Macpherson) and co-founder Gary Freedman (HSBC, IKEA, Doritos).

Glue Society alumni include: Ruth Belloti, Matty Burton, Dave Bowman, Celia Nicholas, Matt Devine, Sam Hibbard, Brigid Arnott, Paul Bruce, Bec Newman, James Dive, Chris Riggert, Dave Tomkins, James Harvey and Emily Manning.
