Tourism 60″ cinema spots to air in Oprah specials
Tourism WA will air some of its 60″ cinema commercials, captured during the Extraordinary Taxi Ride, during the Oprah specials on Channel Ten from tomorrow night.
Shot by Revolver, the films capture the human reaction to some of the state’s key ‘extraordinaries’ including swimming with Whalesharks, gorge walking in Karijini and Purnululu National Park, and the picturesque Margaret River region.

“From sweeping footage flying over the majestic Bungle Bungle Range in the Kimberley, to a hard hat camera riding a rock waterslide in prehistoric Karijini National Park, each of our mini movies is touching, heart warming, honest and real,” said Tourism Western Australia’s CEO, Stephanie Buckland. “Coupling this captivating content with the significant audience and contextual relevance of the Oprah Australia specials will significantly bolster the print, cinema and online campaign already in market.”
Tourism Western Australia will also air the 60″ commercials during the movie screening of Australia on Sunday January 23 and the 5pm evening news on Network Ten. Baz Luhrmann’s epic Australia was filmed in WA and has provided a significant boost to tourism in Broome and The Kimberley region.
To further leverage Oprah’s recent visit and upcoming broadcasts, Tourism WA and Qantas Vacations in the USA are running a ‘win-free’ flights to WA promotion for those booking a Qantas flight to the Eastern cities in Australia. Those people who book a flight to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane from the United States will receive free Qantas airfaresto and from Perth, Broome or both.
