WE’RE HIRING: FRONT END WEB DEVELOPER – BLACKBOX

Blackbox is on the hunt for an up-and-coming front end web developer to join our team in Subiaco.

Working alongside our Senior Developer you will have a solid design background and be directly responsible for creating cutting edge websites and digital solutions. You must be a highly proficient coder, have a strong eye for detail and enjoy working within a close knit team.

Blackbox prides itself on great design that is underpinned by solid strategic thinking. We take pride in our work and set high standards. We do this by combining knowledge and expertise with industry best platforms to create stunning and effective marketing communications.

You will:

• Create websites from initial concept to completion inc. wireframes, full design mock-ups and code.
• Modify existing sites to suit client requirements.
• Deploy sites to our hosting platform using SSH, git, SFTP, CPanel, WHM etc.
• Provide technical support and advice for our clients.
• Work closely with our senior design and management team
• Have a creative flair and be able to design innovative website layouts.

Skill Requirements:

• Hand-coding interactive design layouts with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery and PHP.
• Hand-coding WordPress templates (or similar CMS like Drupal)
• Designing and coding HTML email templates.
• Basic management of a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)-based web stack.
• Well versed in creating website layouts in Photoshop.

Not required, but a plus:

• Familiarity with CVS systems such as git and SVN.
• Familiarity with GitHub.
• Familiarity with Campaign Monitor/MailChimp
• Working with CPanel & WHM for website administrator tasks.
• Adobe Flash animation plus any other related skills
• Comfortable working on OS X

You will have a minimum 2 years prior work experience in a similar role, be highly creative and have strong communication skills that allow you to liaise directly with clients to interpret their needs into outstanding technical solutions. Salary negotiable based on experience.

• Create a dynamic user experience on websites, and across mobile and tablets (responsive)
• Work on social media campaigns to create an interactive experience: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and beyond
• Actively participate in brainstorming sessions
• Motivate and generate enthusiasm within the team

What you will have

• Exceptional online digital portfolio across a range of platforms
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite as well as Microsoft Office products
• A high level of creativity and skill in digital design
• A solid understanding of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript/Jquery
• Experience in designing for established brands and within their corporate visual styles
• Knowledge of the latest trends in digital technology, social media and applications
• Excellent communications skills
• Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) or similar

We have a number of roles on offer from Digital Producer, Project Manager and Account Manager positions, through to front end and back end coding, web development and web design. There are opportunities for designers who are also savvy in Social Media Management (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+), MailChimp, WordPress and HTML – plus programmers and developers in areas such as PHP/Joomla/Ruby on Rails. Some positions are part time (1-3 days a week) and others are full time permanent or freelance (both in-house and remote).
