ADVERTISING RESEARCH ANALYST (Full Time)  – THE WEST AUSTRALIAN

We are seeking a proactive individual to join the research team at WA’s leading news-media organisation. The West Australian is growing and diversifying at an unprecedented rate and market intelligence plays a key role in positioning our print, digital and brand assets for the future.

Duties include the analysis and presentation of market intelligence, providing research support material and regular reports to our sales team and other business units within the Seven West Media WA group.

The successful applicant must have a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, high level analytical and numerical skills, the ability to work to deadlines and strong written and verbal communication skills.

This is a challenging, fast paced role with the opportunity to learn and develop new skills.

Required:

  • Degree in communications or related discipline and minimum two years relevant work experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience in research/data analysis, media or advertising.
  • Familiarity with audience measurement software (e.g. emma, Asteroid, Nielsen).
  • Experience with digital media and digital audience metrics will be highly regarded.

SENIOR PHP DEVELOPER – WORKHOUSE ADVERTISING

West Leederville advertising agency seeking experienced Senior PHP Developer to join digital team. Initial 6 month contract with potential for a full time role.

Role Overview

Using your existing knowledge of PHP and core Object Oriented fundamentals you will be a key addition to our digital team, collaborating on highly functional web applications, and supporting our product development using the Laravel Framework. You will have 5 years + experience in programming, be familiar with popular patterns and practices such as MVC and have worked with web services to achieve integration with 3rd party systems. You will also be proficient in JavaScript and JQuery with any HTML + CSS knowledge considered a bonus.

Role Requirements

General programming development responsibilities will consist of:


•    Working with Laravel to build and extend our existing custom products.

•    Working with PHP to develop supporting services for client websites.

•    Use source control tools (Git).

•    Supporting junior developers, with code reviews.

•    Configure and work with MySQL databases.

•    Ability to configure development environments (install MySQL, Apache etc.).

Advantageous Skills/Knowledge include:

•    Knowledge of any popular framework (with willingness to specialise in Laravel).

•    Knowledge of popular OO design patterns and practices

•    Knowledge of dependency injection, ORM’s and job queuing concepts.

•    Strong knowledge of SQL.

•    Strong exposure to MVC frameworks.

•    Experience with PHP frameworks, such as Laravel.

•    Experience with 3rd party integration (using API’s) and payment systems (e.g., PayPal, eWAY)

•    Experience developing custom API’s.

•    Experience in writing unit tests   

•    Experience with JavaScript and JQuery.

•    Experience with HTML + CSS.

•    Familiarity with deploying to cloud hosting environments such as Windows Azure or AWS.

•    Experience writing test-driven, maintainable and scalable code.

•    Works well under pressure and can work to occasional tight deadlines

•    Fantastic communication skills, friendly and approachable.

•    Self-motivated and is genuinely excited by technology.

•    A commitment to delivering high quality, bug free applications

•    Keen interest in increasing knowledge and skills around application development, associated technologies and general programming

•    A strong work ethic and ‘can-do’ problem solving attitude

Minimum Skills Required

•    5+ years’ experience with the standard PHP web development toolbox.

•    Experience using a web framework to deliver custom solutions.

•    Experience in working on small to large web development projects.

•    Experience with source control systems.

•    Attention to detail and able to produce high quality work
