PROJECT MANAGER – J. WALTER THOMPSON

The Role

The JWT Project Manager is a unique species with a unique skillset. They are few and far between given their obsession for organisation, their acute attention to detail and love of spreadsheets. They are highly adept at project planning, motivating, and managing resources to achieve the desired outcome.

The primary challenge of project management at JWT is to achieve all the delivery objectives ­ working within the agreed scope, time and budget, without compromising on quality. The overriding responsibility is to ensure the most effective and efficient use of time to deliver any project.

Responsibilities

• Management of the full project portfolio, from creative briefing through to delivery
• Internal liaison – working at the core of the agency (department neutral), being the common link to all departments
• Booking and management of creative resource and flagging to Production heads where Producer 
resource is required
• Creation and ownership of a master project plan, from client briefing through to delivery
• Collaborating with Producers to combine timelines for specific deliverables
• Flagging deadlines to relevant departments
• Tracking usage of hours against those assigned (through reconciliation) ­ notifying the account lead 
at regular intervals
• Working hand­-in­-hand with creative throughout creative exploration, advising on any potential budget 
constraints
• Approving production briefs and briefing these with account management into Producers
• Working with Producers to provide estimates and deliverables to account management
• Gatekeeper of quality assurance, ensuring brief, creative and artwork approvals throughout
• Limited client interaction – exception on overall timings and delivery issues
• A good understanding of onscreen, print, social and digital media, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively, as well as outstanding organisational skills and keen attention to detail are a must.
