Tinning steps down as PADC President
After three years in the role, SHED’s Andrew Tinning (left) has decided that it’s time to vacate the saddle and hand the Club’s reigns over.
As of today, Cooch Creative co-founder, Spencer Battista, will step in and up as President Elect.
“Being President has been a very rewarding experience and as an ‘import’ it’s been a great opportunity to give something back to the local industry,” said Tinning.
“It was a pretty dire situation back in ’09 that required us to get back to basics and focus on doing a few things well. This required the selfless dedication of the PADC Committee and the generous support of our very loyal sponsors.”
“As new President my first task was to appoint a new Club Manager to fill the very large shoes left by Liz Bindon-Bonney. Karen Marks was the perfect candidate for the role and it has been a real pleasure to have her riding shotgun throughout some challenging times. A great deal of the Club’s return to form can be attributed to her expertise and effort. The Committee has been a delightful bunch to preside over. Their enthusiasm and energy is a critical part of the Club’s ongoing success. In particular I’d like to thank Rare’s Brett Wheeler and 303 Lowe’s Mike Sequeira who have consistently gone the extra mile as did Block’s Mark Braddock prior to his resignation. Moving forward there are some exciting times ahead for the Club and its members. We are close to launching a brand new website and we have begun the task of rebranding the PADC with a fresh new look that will better reflect who we are today. I am proud to have been a part of these new initiatives and look forward to seeing them come to fruition.”The role of Club President is a demanding one at times and having recently started a business I can assure you that jumping into the deep end of that lovely big pool is no walk in the park either! We have been very fortunate to secure some great clients thus far and it’s important that I’m 100% focused on rewarding their belief in what SHED has to offer. Spencer is the perfect man for the job. He has a wealth of local industry experience and has built a very successful business with his partners while consistently producing some of best creative work in town. He also comes armed with an enormous amount of enthusiasm and a great sense of humour, which he’ll definitely need at times!”
While Battista (pictured left) knows that being President will be a challenge, it’s one he’s looking forward to.
“For me, it’s a great opportunity to give back to an industry I’ve enjoyed for the past 30 years,” he said. “There’s a fantastic new PADC Committee on board for 2012: Brad Cumbers (Brand Agency), Damon Pattison (The Whiteroom), Drew Ridley (Shedcsc), Danielle Glenister (303 Lowe), Tim Newton (Gatecrasher) and Verity Fitzgerald (Freelance Producer), while it’s great to have Mike Sequeira (303 Lowe), Adam Marshall (OMD WA) and Blair MacLeish (Curtin) back for more and of course the fantastic Karen Marks who keeps it all in order. It’s a fantastic team made up of people who are proud to be working in Perth and we all want to do as much as we can to give the Perth advertising industry the respect and polish it rightly deserves.”
The PADC AGM will take place next year, early February, at which a new President will be sworn-in, enabling the Club get on with the business of implementing its plans for the 2012 and beyond.
