McMillan named to replace Greg Pearce at Nine
Tim McMillan is heading home to Perth to join the Nine News team, replace Greg Pearce. The Nine Network reporter and anchor is currently presenting news nationally for the Today Show. He started his journalism career in Perth at the ABC.
McMillan (left) has won two Quill awards for investigative TV reporting.
“It will be great to bring my wife and two year old son back to Perth.” McMillan said. “I grew up in the Hills and there are grandparents and family members eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little one. I’ve been away from Perth for eight years, and although I’ve enjoyed reporting on the big stories in the east, it’s time to come home.”
Nine Director of News David Stacey said Tim McMillan’s return was fantastic news.
“He’s covered some big yarns. Tim was on the ground for Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires, in Queensland for Cyclone Yasi and he covered the recent Royal visit – a true all-rounder. He’s a solid reporter, an award winning journalist with superb credentials. And he’s from Perth – we couldn’t ask for better.”
McMillan will join weather presenter Sally Ayhan and sports presenter Mark Readings at the Perth news desk in January.
