The West Australian wins quality award

West Australian Newspapers (WAN) has been awarded the world’s most prestigious recognition for printing quality – the IFRA Quality Award.

The West Australian, Seven Days and The West Weekend Magazine were among 162 newspapers from 43 countries entered into the competition and all three received the quality award. The three products have been admitted into the exclusive IFRA International Newspaper Quality Club (INCQC) for 2010-2012.

“It is a tribute to the skill, dedication and conscientiousness of our people to consistently produce top quality products for our readers and advertisers.”

The INCQC is the only worldwide quality benchmark for newspaperprinting. A newspaper title achieves INCQC membership for the next twoyears by verifiably producing consistently high quality colournewspaper printing.

WAN general manager of group operations and information technology LiamRoche said The West Australian’s world class printing facility deliversa major benefit to advertisers and readers.

“For our readers, the print quality enhances the visual impact of ouraward-winning photography,” he said. “Similarly, the reproductionquality of advertisements in the publications generates excellentresults for our advertisers.

WAN-IFRA research manager Roland Thees said: “The successful newspapertitles can be proud of their membership in INCQC 2010-2012. They givean impressive demonstration of their capacity to produce in accordancewith the exacting ISO standards and are therefore in a position toreliably reproduce colour image and ad contents consistently,worldwide, and with the intended colour effect.”

The West Australian will accept the award in October at a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany.
