The West Australian named a finalist for 2013 PANPA Newspaper of the Year
The 2013 PANPA Newspaper of the Year finalists have been announced, after weeks of rigorous evaluation by judges around the world. The West Australian isa finalist for Newspaper of the Year in the 90,001+ circulation category, upagainst the Daily Telegraph, Manly Daily, mX (Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane),Sydney Morning Herald, The New Zealand Herald, The Age and The Australian.
The West is also a finalist in technical excellence. Those two nominations are among several finalists for WAN titles, including in Innovation in Digital Publishing for the regional iNFOGO initiative, and for Habitat and Travel in Pre-print & Supplement 90,000+ circulation.
Community Newspaper Group’s Comment News and Western Suburbs Weekly are finalists for non-daily Newspaper of the Year (25,001 – 90,000 circ).
The Newspaper Works CEO Mark Hollands said the awards were important recognition of the ongoing contribution of the industry.
“Tough conditions in the market, and major structural changes in our businesses that is now taking place, mean it is important for everyone to focus not only on the challenges but also on the great work we do, and our contribution to society, our readers and commercial partners and clients.”
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on August 29, 2013 at The Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney.
