The Skulls 2014: New categories see entries up; judging today for presentation on November 7

Skulls_Cropped_BLOG.jpgPADC President, Mark Braddock is encouraged by the number and diversity of entries for the The Skulls 2014.

After receiving a bumper crop of entries (up over 30% on last year) we are looking forward to a big day of judging today.

Our jury, chaired by Brendon Guthrie, ECD of Ogilvy Melbourne and including Creative Directors Julie Faktor and Simon Bagnasco, have gathered early this morning at Curtin to begin the epic task.

Thank you to all that have supported the Club and The Skulls 2014. The diversity of entries has been quite amazing and 2013/14 will go down as the Year of the Integrated Campaign with many entrants taking advantage of the breadth of the new categories.

The initial judges selection was done in consultation with a group of Perth’s most respected Creative Directors, however, as seems the nature of our business, two of our judges had to pull out at the last minute. We have managed to find great replacements in Simon and Julie.

As it has been for longer than anyone can remember, the judging day itself will again be overseen by Lee Guy-Wallis from Split Screen Productions with the assistance of Club Manager Karen Marks. For the first time additional oversight will be provided by The Communications Council as part of our developing partnership with Award and TCC.

Thanks too must go to the team at The Brand Agency for their brilliant Call for Entries campaign.

Lastly, a huge thank you to The Skulls 2014 Education Partner, Curtin University School of Design & Art for hosting the judging and providing hospitality on the day.

This all bodes well for The Skulls Award Night on November 7 at Frasers in Kings Park. Tickets will go on sale in the next couple of weeks.

We look forward to announcing a complete list of partners next week, all of whom are making major contributions to a great year for The Skulls.

Regards,

Mark Braddock
