Experience ‘the fight club of the art scene’: Secret Walls x Australia vs HOWA – Thursday March 24
Secret Walls, the world’s premier live illustration event, has run over 1000 shows in 50 cities over the past 10 years. Described as the ‘fight club’ of the art scene, Secret Walls is inspired by Marvel comics and graffiti.
Going head-to-head, artists are armed solely with black markers for 90 mins, drawing freestyle without pencil outlines or sketches, with the challenge of filling a large canvas. There can only be one winner!
Now in Perth, Five Bar has joined forces with carstereoshop.com.au and POSCA Australia to sponsor a Secret Walls event that features street art, food and music but most importantly helps those experiencing homelessness.
From 6pm on Thursday, March 24, the HOWA Positivity Hoodie Project will see some of Perth’s finest urban artists battle on a 16-metre wall.
Nine artists will go head-to-head for the chance to see their design printed on the hoodies that will then be sold for the charity HOWA (Humans of Western Australia).
Craig Buchanan, Creative Director of The Brand Agency, and Stuart Holden creator of HOWA, will judge the battle and decide the winner.
Come and experience the thrill of watching freestyle artwork unfold before your eyes accompanied by DJ’s Charlie Bucket & Ben Chill and MC’s Silver Tongue, Stian MacShane, and Beckon & Gamski.

About HOWA
HOWA – Humans of WA – is inspired by Humans of New York and respectfully copies its proven format. Started in WA by photographer, Stuart Holden, HOWA is a tribute to the people that make up our great state and gives a brief glimpse into their lives. The act of asking someone if you can create a portrait of them is both humbling and terrifying. Taking the time to sit and listen to people – their lives and their stories. The aim is to take 300 portraits in memory of the late Luke Wales, who encouraged us all to look past the exterior of people and to see the person for who they really are – a human being.
