The Brand Agency promote Sunday’s news on Sundays for The Sunday Times

The Sunday Times has moved to counter The West Australian’s recent decision to evolve Saturday’s West into the Weekend West. The strategy is tp point out that it’s not a Sunday edition – it’s the same paper as the day before and so it’s literally yesterday’s news.
The Brand Agency created radio spot set out to remind people that The Sunday Times is the only Sunday paper, with Sunday’s news. The radio ad only runs on Sundays.

Well, it makes sense! Who in their right mind would want to buy Friday Night’s news on Sunday? Good on The Sunday Times and Brand for marketing what really is common sense.
I heard the spot on the radio and loved it.
Nice one Mitch, loved it.
love it! Topical 15 seconders after a big event would also work well. Today’s could be ‘Mark Webber lines up today to try and become Australia’s first F1 Champion since Alan Jones’
Hahaha. And the winner….? Radio sales budgets!!
Funniest thing is that most of Sunday’s news is from Friday too or earlier in the week. Not really JUST a weakness of The West is it? Love the placement of The West tower ad right next to this too. Good media placement….
12.31. too true, and yes, I thought the West ad on the blog was very ironic but the West has always been much better at promoting itself (mainstream and trade) and their leading role in the industry (PADC, Caxton etc) than the Sunday Times.
I do really like the approach Brand took with this radio commercial though. Maybe they should have bought the tower ad next to the story too. That would have been clever.
Love it!
Okay, apart from the fact that most of both papers is filled with ‘magazine’ style gossip and old news, some of it printed during the week, well, apart from that, and of course the terrible state of the journalism in both, apart from that, at least the Sunday Times knows it’s a tabloid, but apart from that, well of course there are the aquaducts…
I dont get that West ad on this page. “Now your ad stays for two days”. Where did the ad go before they changed the name of the paper?
