SimonMartin_TEN_BLOG.jpgNEW Ten general manager Simon Martin has become a victim of the network’s struggling fortunes and will finish at the the station on August 29.

Ten’s poor recent performance nationally has been well documented but Martin told Campaign Brief he was disappointed at the decision, given that Ten Perth’s ratings were the strongest in the network and revenue from WA had also been good.

A popular and well-liked figure in the local industry, Martin has been with Ten for 18 years, the last 8 as GM of NEW Ten. Prior to that he was Finance Manager of Ten Perth & Adelaide. Ironically, the Perth station will now be overseen by Ten Adelaide general manager, Frank Filosi.

A statement from Network Ten said: “On June 24, Simon Martin told staff at NEW that he had resigned as General Manager and will depart on August 29. Simon has been Network Ten’s Perth General Manager since May 2006 and has made an outstanding contribution to our business, both nationally and in WA. Under Simon’s leadership, NEW has built a strong presence in the Perth community and the Perth media and advertising market. He leaves Network Ten with our thanks and very best wishes for the future.”
