Tamara Yoga helps out mums and the elderly

Darkhorse Advertising has created a print and poster campaign for client Tamara Yoga in Claremont. It promotes Tamara Yoga’s specialist classes for pre-natal and restorative yoga.
“The pre-natal classes are for yummy mummies, just before they become mummies, and the restorative classes for older ladies and gents who can’t exactly do the downward dog without having a prolapse,” said Darkhorse Advertising’s Sean Clough.
Both posters have been highly successful in luring students who represent a niche sector of the market who require a less-gruelling yoga regime.

It’s great so see some work from the smaller agencies. Here’s a friendly attempt at constructive feedback.

Yikes. what a way to talk about your client. Especially a spiritual yoga client. This is the kind of talk that should stay in-agency unless it reflects the brand-feel that the client wants, but that’s not coming through in the work.
Could have looked great with some crafting – colours that feel yoga-like, images that aren’t so stark, a more appropriate font.
The copywriting is very nice.
At first glance I like it, because it follows the rules. It seems balanced and has the standard Headline, Image, Explanation, CTA, Logo in all the right places.
On closer inspection I also feel it’s a little cold/stark/uninspiring. The images are a little too Shutterstock for my liking but smaller agencies generally don’t have a say in that, so no harm done. The colour scheme and logo make it look very Japanese too, not sure if that was intentional but it is difficult to ignore.
Over all, good work to get the client over the line with some white space and minimalistic approach, and the ads are generally quite effective so well done Darkhorse.
If you recognise there is a student market, surely it makes sense to also shoot a couple of young student chicks, viewed from behind, doing the double flowering lotus position? They could also be quite oiled up, you know, to suggest it is a work out of some kind. Maybe they are also wearing string bikinis, because summer’s coming and it’s kinda hot. Not only would it make for a great ad, it would also get you the requisite 3 executions that make it a campaign – and therefore more likely to pick up at PADC. I’d vote for it
