STM celebrates its 10th birthday and re-designs the magazine with new sections and a new look
The Sunday Times’ STM celebrated its 10th birthday last weekend with a re-design of the magazine and the launch of its biggest reader promotion ever. In addition, the new-look STM is continuing its partnership with the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival and will publish the official guide for the event.
The re-design saw the magazine introduce a new logo, new fonts, new colour palette, new advertising shapes and new sections. The new sections are:
• Beauty – showcasing must have beauty products
• Home – the latest trends in interiors and homewares
• Restaurant / Bar fly – profiles and reviews on WA’s newest bars and restaurants
• Travel – must-see tips for travellers from WA expats who have moved cities
The Sunday Times editor Rod Savage said, “For 10 years, STM has been bringing Western Australians the best lifestyle news and information in the state. The new sections give our readers and advertisers even more reason to engage with our publication. When combined with existing sections like the Hit List (retail), Style pages and Donna Hay (food), we now offer them a holistic WA lifestyle experience.”
The cover girl for the 10th birthday issue was Australian model Jessica Gomes. Gomes said, “I feel so honoured. I love the recognition STM gives people and think it’s great that it supports Perth talent. STM has been a real launching pad for so many young models.”
News Corp’s WA sales director Rebecca Lassen said, “The re-design allows us to engage in new conversations with our advertising partners. They have embraced the new magazine and understand its role in the life of Western Australians. I’m delighted to welcome Rio Tinto on as an advertiser of the magazine; while existing advertisers such as Picnic Hobbs, Bedshed and Absolute Cosmetics have partnered with us in a more targeted way with the new sections.”
STM readers also have the opportunity to win one of two ‘glam getaways’ including two business tickets to Abu Dhabi and then to Rome, as well as $2000 spending money. Valued at $50,000, the promotion is the biggest reader giveaway STM has undertaken since it launched. On the promotion Savage continued, “To mark our 10th birthday, we wanted to give something back to our readers. This promotion is aimed to engage our readers with the new STM while thanking them for their loyalty since we launched. Thanks to them, STM is WA’s biggest selling glossy magazine dedicated to fashion, food and lifestyle.”
STM has also announced that it is continuing its partnership with Telstra Perth Fashion Festival and will see its 14 September edition become the official guide of the event. Savage commented, “STM’s reputation as the state’s fashion bible has enabled us to secure this fantastic partnership opportunity. To support the Festival, we are filling this issue with exciting and exclusive fashion news and designer profiles from the popular event making it our biggest issue of the year. As part of the partnership, we are also giving our readers the opportunity to enjoy everything the Festival has to offer with ticket giveaways.”
Fashion director of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan said of the partnership, “The synergies between STM and the Festival are endless. Both brands continue to deliver the latest and best fashion experience to Western Australians. I’m pleased to be partnering with them for the Festival, particularly following its successful 10th birthday rebrand.”
Savage concluded, “While STM has constantly evolved over the years, its heart has never changed. It remains inspirational, aspirational, attractive, lively, and perhaps most importantly, fiercely Perth.”
