Socialite Media runs the innovative “first ever” social media room for Telethon weekend

Socialite Media Crew.jpgTelethon, now in its 44th year, raises funds to support sick children and research childhood diseases. While Telethon’s non-stop broadcast will take place at the Perth Convention Centre this weekend, it’s been go time for Socialite Media for months now.

Socialite Media is the official Social Media provider for Telethon. The team has been working hard behind the scenes, including championing a successful Telethon Social Media first, with the BankWest Telethon Perth Tweetathon that saw BankWest pledge one dollar for each Tweet that included the #tweetforkids hash tag.

Telethon General Manager, Steve Mummery, welcomes the introduction of Socialite Media into the Telethon team, saying “Socialite Media have been integral to Telethon throughout 2012, helping us get the word out and their presence in our brand new social media café throughout Telethon 2012 will ensure that our online donations increase substantially.”

The Socialite Media team will be present and representing the official Telethon Social Media throughout the live event. We will quite literally be in the middle of it all – while the celebrities are hanging in the green room, the Socialites will be next door in the Social Media room. Prime real estate which we’ll be taking full advantage of, by hopefully, migrating a few celeb’s into the Social Media room to join the Twitter and Facebook feeds and interact live with fans during Telethon.

Last year’s Telethon saw the event trending on Twitter, and inspired by that, this is the first time Telethon have taken on official Social Media representation. Recognising the value of Social Media interaction, and the power and reach of Social platforms is an innovative step for the children’s charity, and the entire team at Socialite Media is honoured to be part of such a worthy cause.
