I hope the post production was done eastern states because I don’t think there is a post house in Perth that would let such crap compositing/visual effects leave their studios. What a shocker.
everything was done live projecting real images onto Perth’s building…
I hope that first comment was someone pretending to be Bruce, because the clarification in the following comment would make a supposed post production professional look quite the fool.
That’s as maybe 11.16, but it’s still awful.
Nike did it back in the late eighties early nineties in their famous runner commercial and it looked amazing -this just doesn’t do it!
Yep. Truly awful.
Dear anonymous 3.09PM. This job had the potential to be a ground breaking ad. Here are some ideas just to get the brain working in the correct direction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqF3GTwlFE4
Some pre planning of how the images projected could best work with the architecture of the building would have gone a long way. Then a combination of some clever edits, subtle compositing and projection would get you amazing results.
All the above is part of a effective visual effects job. Contrary to popular belief, visual effects and compositing is no longer a case of just sitting in a dark room polishing some else’s turd.
Agree totally with Bruce, a great opportunity to do a piece that was worthy of a 25 year relationship.
Inspirational = 0
Sorry 303 peeps – have to agree. There is some absolute kick butt projection stuff going on around the world and I have to say this is a real embarrassment – made me cringe. No point doing this kind of stuff if you can’t afford it or do it properly. It looks cheap and nasty to me. Nice idea – but could have been so much better.
