Marketforce creative team Ryan Albuino and Andrew Chu are leaving the agency to join Clemenger BBDO in Sydney.

The pair have been responsible for some of the agency’s best work in recent years, including the OMA Gold award-winning Department of Environment ‘Applauding Bus Shelter’, the Caxton winning Cancer Council ’10 Things Every Bloke Should Know’ and ORS ‘Tear’ press ads, and the Scratch ‘n’ Win Double Crossword radio campaign, which won the $20,000 Austereo Radio Writers Award in 2008.

Chu was ranked fourth and Albuino tenth in this year’s Campaign Brief WA Creative Rankings.

Marketforce creative director, Andrew Tinning, said their move was not unexpected: “It’sbeen on the cards for quite a while now and the boys have been veryopen about it. There comes a time in every young creatives career whenyou have to put yourself out there and see how far you can go. As withall of my creatives both past and present, I’m the first one toencourage a move when it’s for the right reasons in the rightdirection.

“Clems Sydney is the perfect place for them at thispoint in time. They have a couple of hungry new CDs who are out to maketheir mark, and knowing them personally, I have no doubt that they willwork the boys like dogs and bring out the best in them.

“Chewy and Ryan, I’m really happy for you both and am proud to have been able to help you prepare for this next step.”

Theirdeparture means Albuino’s fiancée, Julia Elton-Bott, will also leavethe agency, although not before their wedding towards the end of thisyear.

For the new ECD team at Clemenger Sydney, Paul Nagy and Michael Spirkovski, it was their first significant hire since taking over from Richard Maddocks in mid-June. Nagy told CB: “Mike and I are extremely excited about getting these twoon board. Having done their apprenticeship under Tinno, we know they’llbe quality, and while their awards speak for themselves, it was theirdown-to-earth nature and just plain passion for great work that reallycaught our eye. We can’t wait to get them started.”

tony_williams.JPGIn another, unrelated departure, 303 Head of Art Tony Williams has resigned and finishes this week after just eight months with the agency.

Williamsreturned to Perth to take up the role in November, after several yearsin Asia that included stints at BBH Singapore, Saatchi & SaatchiJapan and as creative director of Apple Inc. in Tokyo.

Following303 Sydney creative director Julian Watt’s departure in December,Williams took on creative responsibilities in Sydney. It was thoughtWilliams may replace Watt as Sydney CD but BMF creative Simon Langleywas appointed to the role in February this year.

However, Williams continued to spend much of his time in Sydney, which, with a new baby, was not his preference. He will remain Perth based but work across a number of areas. He  is returning to directing in Asia under the Cyclops Films umbrella and already has some work in Japan. He will also continue to work with 303 in the short term on some projects.
