Release your inner artist: Early call for entries for the 2013 Oasis Ball Art Auction

The Art Auction will be part of the 2013 Oasis Ball, so this is an early call for all budding Picassos, Cartier-Bressons or Hursts (eek!) to start limbering up your artistic sensibilities.

The Art Auction was one of the most popular aspects of this year’s Oasis Ball. The range of stunning work included Glenn Hodgkin’s piercing, revealing and wildly controversial portrait of Steve Harris, which Brand Agency chairman and noted collector Ken James ultimately secured after some spirited bidding. Alas, that particular work has been removed from public view and its fate is unknown. Perhaps it will surface again one day, like a long forgotten Rembrandt. Or perhaps it has been lost forever, destroyed as a symbol of heresy and false idolatry.

So instead, here’s a picture of Andrew Tinning’s chook, which currently graces the walls of CB.

The 2013 show will once again be expertly curated by The Brand Agency’s Suzanne Stirling, who was widely praised for her deft handling of this year’s exhibition.

“The impact of this year’s show was challenging, inspiring, humbling,” she said. “Each artist grappled with the complexity of the modern human existence in their own way. The combined aesthetic was both epic and intimate at the same time.”

Stirling is looking for new masterpieces for the 2013 Auction and, with six months to create them, we’re hoping for an even bigger showing.
