Pitches for Vivid Wireless on Melbourne Cup Day
While the rest of us were sipping champagne and discussing our Melbourne Cup tips last Tuesday, at least four agencies were pitching for Vivid Wireless, the Seven Network’s new 4G broadband company aiming to launch its service in Perth from March next year.
Details of the pitch are sketchy, with all participating agencies having been required to sign a non-disclosure agreement, however it is believed Marketforce, 303, Rare, Gatecrasher and at least one other agency submitted.
It has been touted as a multi-million dollar account, although some doubts have been expressed at the revenue return on the business. One view is that, being a Seven Network company, it’s likely the majority of media spend would go to Seven, Yahoo!7 and The West Australian.
Vivid Wireless is chaired by Ryan Stokes, son of Seven Network chairman Kerry Stokes, while the CEO role will be filled by Martin Mercer, former executive director of marketing for Telstra’s consumer division. The pitches were coordinated by Kath Tenger.
The fourth generation technology allows up to 10-times faster streaming of video and data, and $50 million has been budgeted for the rollout across the Perth metropolitan area.

Marketforce are obviously pitching with the full support of their client Westnet.
Isn’t that a bit of a conflict, don’t MF have Westnet
Er – doesn’t Marketforce work on Westnet????
hang on, haven’t marketforce got westnet??? surely that’s a massive conflict of interest and risky business when you’re shipping clients all over the place?
bold move from those at MF….
Didn’t MF do that to SGIO on the RAC pitch too?
Poor Brand looks like they lucked out on a big pitch.
iinet are soon to absorb westnet you fools. Learn a bit about your industry before you flap your gums and make fools of us all. My money’s on 303. Go team.
If it was a creative pitch as opposed to a pants dropping credentials/financial tender then I wouldn’t underestimate Marketforce.
12.37, iinet acquired Westnet 18 months ago and clearly target a different audience and have a separate strategy for the two brands, so I doubt iinet will ‘absorb’ Westnet MF do a good job on Westnet, I guess we are all just a bit surprised that they are willing to risk the relationship to chase a potential bigger fish – better a pilchard in your pocket than a salmon in the sea I say!
Are you suggesting that Brands creative is substandard and they only win pitches because they drop their pants and bend over?
1:10 – I love it when you talk dirty.
Where’s the latest Tourism WA ad?

Clearly you don’t read CB or come to the blog often.
SGIO went East, again. Ya reckon MF might have had a bit of a feeling about this when they were pitching on RAC?
12.37 how true. As flawed, goal scoring philosopher Eric Cantona once said ‘When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.”
What about the seagulls that follow the troller?
