PerthNow to sponsor PITCH to PLAY initiative at the 2016 Emergence Creative Festival
PerthNow has announced its sponsorship of PITCH to PLAY, an initiative of the Emergence Creative Festival, running in Margaret River from March 16 to March 19, 2016.
PITCH to PLAY will allow emerging creative collaborators to pitch their ideas, concepts and creative work for a chance to play at the Emergence Festival in front of an influential audience.
Entrants are required to create a 30-second to 1-minute video within specific creative categories, explaining why they should be chosen as the 2016 PITCH to PLAY recipient. The winner will have the opportunity to work with PerthNow on a social video for the forthcoming 10th anniversary campaign.
The winner will also receive an exclusive package including editorial support, mentoring and a digital and social advertising package worth $10,000.
“Emergence is really excited about PerthNow’s involvement with the festival, and particularly looking forward to their engagement with our PITCH to PLAY initiative,” said Emergence Event Manager, Erin Molloy. “The initiative is a great representation of what the Emergence Creative Festival is about. The festival will provide up-and-coming creative, innovative and digital thinkers a platform to share and showcase their ideas, connecting them with leaders in these spaces, and providing opportunities to collaborate with like-minded people from different backgrounds in order to bring their ideas to life”.
Emergence Chairman, Mat Lewis added: “Emergence Creative is positioned as the anti- conference for those that think digitally and differently and Australia’s South West Ideas Fest. Having a ready-made audience of creative industry ‘doers’ has led Emergence Creative to fast become not only a conference and festival, but a platform to ‘create live’, bringing PITCH to PLAY to life.”
News Corp WA Head of Digital, Guy Turner (pictured), said PerthNow was excited to be involved in PITCH to PLAY at Emergence.
“In order to deliver on the engagement opportunities offered by rapid technological development, digital creativity and innovation have been central to our business model for the last 10 years. Emergence is an opportunity for us to be inspired by, and hopefully in turn foster, an emerging set of creative innovators who can make a mark on WA, Australia and Globally. This year we will be looking to take the best pitched ideas to the public by offering a people’s choice award which the PerthNow community can view and vote on. In this spirit, we will assist the winner to build capital and advocacy through a supported crowdfunding campaign and awareness drive”.
The PITCH to PLAY initiative will be a significant opportunity for an emerging creative individual or business to work with PerthNow, one of the biggest brands in the market, on one of their biggest campaigns. PITCH to PLAY creative categories include:
- Film – Scriptwriting and Film Content
- Music – Live performance & recording, and music video
- Digital campaigns
- Innovative Design
- Creative Collaborations
- Innovative Start-Ups
The three-day Emergence Creative Festival will include live projects, guest speakers, emerging musical acts, local artist exhibitions, satellite events and the best of the Margaret River region.
PITCH to PLAY entries must be submitted by February 16, 2016 and final judging will occur on February 28, with the winners announced in early March 2016.
