Rockwiz is Australia’s favourite rock’n’roll quiz and is coming to Perth Zoo for one night only – this Saturday December 17.
The Brand Agency, Perth created this simple poster to get punters through the door.

That’s made my morning.
Love it!
Very cute. But where’s the guy with the cat’s whiskers? (Peter Criss?)
See, I reckon that’s great. So I show it around and someone in the office says: “Been done”. They google ‘Kiss Pandas’ and hit images.
Here’s the link: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=kiss+pandas&hl=en&safe=off&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=3mTpTvLeGNGyiQfwmfXTCA&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CBcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1120&bih=759
Does that revelation make it a good ad or a bad ad?
The thing is, the average punter who sees this won’t care if it’s been done. Only advertising people care. Hopefully they’ll get a good laugh like I did and vote with their paws by heading to the zoo on December 17.
It’s a good ad by way of recognising a cute idea already done that can be appropriated into the brief, but it just goes to show how fucking unoriginal we are, and that’s embarrassing at a national level by other advertising people Mick.
I see what you did there Mick….
10.15 Oh dear how embarrassing for Brand.
Classic…but where is the “famous” tongue?.
Nice work guys.
Think about it dudes. We are online all the time and I’ve seen that idea a hundred times. We’re about originally man. Spend less time reading annuals and more time thinking and coming up with new stuff. Such an opportunity.
How cute! Gave me the giggles!
Love the idea. Simple. Obvious. One of those first thoughts that just nail it.
Dynasty was my favourite album. Are they going to be playing stuff from that?
Oh I don’t see what the negative fuss is about…
Advertising steals stuff from popular culture all the time.
It’s all about how you apply the swag.
This is a fun execution that leaves you with a smile.
Nice one Brand!
That revelation does make it pretty ordinary, I don’t have a problem with copying just don’t beat your own chest and say how good am I when you do it and don’t charge the client a arm and a leg for creative just put a cost cell in “copy concept via google $15 plus gst. Production $ 360 plus gst.”
Nice advert though.
It’s not about stealing from popular culture. It’s stealing from other creatives and other agencies and their clients. The Zoo client has paid for work that has been copied and now Brand creatives are claiming it as their own work. It’s not right. Stop the celebration.
I don’t mind at all that it’s been done before. The appropriation (cleverly reworked) is spot on for the brief and I’d happily take unoriginal and good like this over original and average. And let’s be honest, there aren’t too many original ideas coming out of this town … or anywhere else for that matter.
Bottom line, I bet the punters love it and client is going to get the desired result.
2:41, I don’t recall Perth Zoo running anything like either the Panda or Meerkat KISS gags. What stolen work are you referring to? Also, isn’t Perth Zoo a Brand client?
Are you drunk 4.59?
Love it !
2:41, Not drunk. But clearly not thinking straight. I have re-read your previous comment and now realize that I misread it, and therefore misunderstood your point. I am tool (should that be a capital?). Sorry.
I still however like the poster. A lot.
Okay, now that you mention alcohol I could do with a drink.
Cheers my friend. Merry Christmas.
