Perth Radio Survey 8 results released
Mix 94.5 has finished 2015 on top in the last GfK Metro Radio Survey for the year. Despite a slight slip of -0.2 to 15.0% People 10+, it is still comfortably ahead of Nova 93.7 on 12.0% and JJJ on 11.3%. They are the only stations in double-figures for People 10+
In an unusual result, Mix 94.5 recorded rises in P10-17 (+0.8 to 13.5%), P18-24 (+0.4 to 12.2%) and P25-39 (+2.7 to15.1%), but recorded falls in its heartland 40-54 demo (-1.7 to 19.7%) and P55-64 (-1.9 to 19.5%), as well as P65+ (-0.2 to 6.6%).
Nova 93.7 had a big fall in P10-17, down -6.0 to 29.9% share but was still #1 in that demo. However it recorded rises in P18-24 (+1.2 to 16.1%) and P25-39 (+0.7 to 20.2%). It was the #1 station that demo.
hit92.9 delivered a stronger result, particularly Under 40. It was the #2 station P10-17 on 28.3% – a rise 2.4% from S7. It was up 1.9 to 23.8% in P18-24 and the #1 commercial station for that demo. And it was up 1.3 to 17.1% for P25-39 and #2 (commercial) position behind Nova.
It was an ‘up-and down’ but ultimately disappointing survey for 96fm.In P10+ it was down 0.3 to 7.7%. It down in P10-17 (-2.5% to 3.8%), up in P18-24 (+1.1% to 10.3%), down in P25-39 (-0.3% to 8.7%), down in P4054 (-2.5 to 9.7%), up in P55-64 (+2.4 to 9.6%) and up in P65+ (+0.5 to 2.0%). The station has plenty of work to do in 2016.
6PR was still the #1 commercial station for P65+, despite recording another fall, this time -2.0% to 16.5% but was the only commercial station in double-figures in that demo.
6IX had a relatively flat survey, the result being no change to its P10+ share of 4.5% from S7. It will be interesting to see what effect its new Breakfast team of Tim Gossage and Madelaine Burke has on its audience next year. Campaign Brief has received a steady trickle of complaints about the replacement of John Burgess ever since it was announced last month.
It was a somewhat surprising result in Breakfast, with 720 ABC being #1 on 15% (a rise of 2.2%) despite Eoin Cameron still being on extended leave recovering from back surgery.
Nova’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun were the #1 commercial station Breakfast, despite a fall of -0.4% rise to 13.6%. Mix 94.5’s Clairsy and Kymba also fell, down -0.5 to 12.5%.
Nova once again recorded the largest Cumulative Audience of 511,000 P10+, while Mix 94.5 also again recorded the largest Average Audience – 56,000 for its Morning session.
