GfK_Perth_Survey2_2017_Share.jpgThe second GfK Metro Radio Survey for 2017 has been released.

Mix 94.5 has retained the #1 position P10+, with a slight 0.2% gain to a 14.5% share.

The station was also #1 in its key P40-54 demo with a small rise of +0.6% to a 20.1% share.

It also recorded an improbable rise of +6.2% to an 18.9% share of 10-17s!

Nova 93.7 is #2 P10+ on 11.8%. Nova recorded Share losses across all demos except P40-54, where it went up +2.0% to 11.2%. However its Cumulative Audience of 568,000 P10+ is 79,000 more than next-best mix94.5’s 489,000.

hit92.9 is #3 P10+ on 10.8%, up +1.4%. It had a big gain of +7.4% to a commanding 31.7% share of 18-24s, as well as a rise of +2.1% to 18.3% amongst 25-39s.

96FM is #4 on 9.1% after a rise of 0.4% as it continues to build. Gains in P40-54 (+0.2% to 15.8%) and P55-64 (+2.1% to 9.8%) indicate the station’s Real Gold positioning is resonating with its target audience.

6PR was down -0.4% to 6.9% P10+ but up +0.7% to 15.4% in P65+, its biggest demo.

6IX made another good gain in its heartland P55-64 demo, up 2.5% to 15.2% to be the #1 station for that demo. It is also the #2 station (commercial) in terms of Average and Cumulative audience numbers.

Interestingly, three stations – 6IX, hit92.9 and 96FM – recorded rises or were flat across all sessions.

In the Battle of Breakfast, mix 94.5’s Clairsy, Matt & Kymba were #1 with a rise of 0.9% to 14.7% and recorded the biggest Average Audience of 53,000 but Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun recorded the biggest Cumulative Audience of 357,000 listeners.

In overall Cumulative Audience, Nova 93.7 led the way with 568,000 listeners P10+, an increase of 13,000 from Survey 1. It was the only station to record a Cume of more than 500,000.

Mix94.5 recorded the biggest Average Audience of 33,000 P10+, an increase of 2,000 from S1.

WHAT THE STATIONS SAID

Amanda Lee, Content Director hit92.9

“This result is a testament of the incredible work that the hit92.9 team put in every day, driven by our very funny, spontaneous and entertaining breakfast show, Heidi Will and Woody. hit92.9 is passionate about creating memorable content and events for Perth, but the best part is, we’re having a blast doing it! We have so much more to come and we can’t wait for Perth to see what we have in store next!”

Erica McGee, Content Director mix94.5

“The mix94.5 team has continued to deliver an outstanding product for our listeners and clients, in the face of a turbulent market and internal rebuild. From legendary competitions like First Word, to our search for Clairsy, Matt & Kymba’s Rock Star and delivering the best AFL calls of both West Coast and Fremantle games, we really are Everything Perth. And proud of it.”

Gary Roberts, Managing Director Nova 93.7

“We are clearly the Perth station with the most listeners. Both Nova 93.7, and Nathan, Nat and Shaun, win their Cume rankings with more people than will fit in the new Perth Stadium. Nova 93.7 has gone from 555,000 to 568,000 listeners, and leading by 79,000; Nathan, Nat and Shaun have increased by 69,000 from 339,000 to 357,000 and retain the most for any single show in Perth.”

Rick Dalton, Commercial Director 96FM

“We are very pleased to see the positive momentum we’ve created in Perth off the back of the change in music positioning for 96FM with Perth’s Real Gold. With growth across our core demographic of 25 – 54 males, we have further strengthened our compelling offering for advertisers in what is a very competitive market place. We are staying focused on delivering the strategy that has been welcomed by listeners and advertisers.”

Evan Broadway, General Manager Forever Classic:

“I’m really proud of the entire 6iX team for the hard work and dedication they have placed into our station and product. It’s nice for everyone to see an increase in both Survey 1 and 2 this year. Our strength in baby boomers is starting to pay dividends for our clients too. It’s a baby step, but one that we’ll have a quiet drink to celebrate”.

Marianne Stelmach, Group Sales Manager Macquarie Media

“News Talk 882 6PR has held its audience and grew its overall Cume with gains across Breakfast, Afternoon, Drive and Nights. The station also recorded healthy share increases in Drive and Weekends, including the start of the AFL coverage. We’re once again pleased that 6PR still maintains to be the highest Time Spent Listening commercial station, which we’ve seen work exceptionally well for our clients campaigns.
