LIA2015_BLOG.jpgWinners for the 30th London International Awards have been announced, and Western Australian agencies Marketforce and The Brand Agency have put in a dominant performance in the Radio & Audio categories.

Judging was held at the SLS Hotel in Las Vegas, with juries convening over a ten-day period, with Campaign Brief one of only three international media invited to attend. The juries, led by their respective jury presidents, including former Perth creative Matt Eastwood (JWT Worldwide), viewed and scored every entry within their medium. They concluded with final discussions to determine Grand LIAs, statue winners and finalists.

Australia has scored 67 statues and 26 finalists overall – 14 Gold, 20 Silver and 33 Bronze, with Perth radio work figuring prominently in those results.

Marketforce won 2 Gold, 2 Silver, a Bronze and a Finalist in Radio & Audio for its Canning & Tuart Colleges ‘Jerk’ campaign and Curtin University ‘Women In Engineering’.

The Brand Agency scored 2 Gold and 2 Silver Statues for its St John Ambulance ‘Not The Time’ campaign.

It’s a fantastic result for both agencies and the Western Australian industry.

Radio production house, Eardrum Australia also scored a Silver and two Bronzes for its production of the St John Ambulance campaign, amongst a haul that saw it named Radio & Audio Company Of The Year for the third year running.

Also winning metal at LIA Southern Cross Austereo Perth, who scored a Bronze for its Westspecs ‘Shart’ spot.

Barbara Levy, president, LIA, said the Australian Ad and Design industry won an incredible 10% of all metal awarded in the 2015 judging.

“Leo Burnett has won 16 Statues, making them the third most awarded agency in the world. In addition, I would like to congratulate Eardrum Australia for being named ‘Radio & Audio Company of the Year’ for the third consecutive year.”

Radio Jury Pres - Tom E (1).jpgTom Eymundson (left), CEO, Pirate Group, and 2015 Radio jury president, said chairing this year’s Radio and Audio Jury was an honour.

“To be in the company of five industry-leading minds debating the merits of exceptional work from around the globe was a pure privilege. And to do it poolside was, well, a stroke of Barbara brilliance!

“After three days of intense listening to over 550 submissions, we culled a shortlist of (wait for it) 143 – a testament to the amount of great ideation, craftsmanship and innovation in this category: a conference call skillfully crafted into song for a Bluetooth speaker, a World Press Photo annual with contextual audio for each picture, a 30-year-old traditional radio campaign as fresh today as it was at launch, and a university encouraging more women to enroll in Engineering by highlighting a female engineering achievement that had significant impact on the very medium on which the ad was played, digital radio.

“When it came to the Statue round we were all on the same page, proof positive that a bold idea, an inspired execution and strategic insight transcends language. The odds of winning in Vegas are tough – statue recipients, be very proud of your trifecta.”

Leo Burnett Sydney led the Australian statue tally count, taking home four Gold, four Silver and eight Bronze. They also attained two Finalists:
