OMDWATeam_3-2012_Blog.jpgOMD narrowly edged out Mitchell & Partners to win the inaugural Channel Nine WIN Network Media Agency of the Year at the Campaign Brief Awards, held Friday night. The Media Agency of the Year award has been introduced to acknowledge the increasingly pivotal role media agencies play in advertisers marketing plans. In 2011, the two outstanding media agencies in Perth were Mitchell and Partners and OMD WA. Both delivered excellent results for their clients and their own businesses.

LukeOOne of the most popular wins of the night was Mitchell’s Luke O’Sullivan (pictured) taking out the Supernova of the Year. The Supernova of the Year Award recognises outstanding young people who will be the future leaders of their organisations and the industry. Despite an early setback, O’Sullivan has combined talent with dedication and determination to succeed and is now a key member of Mitchell’s growing team.

Southern Cross Austereo – operators of radio stations 92.9 and Mix 94.5 – became the first two-time winner of the prestigious Media Organisation of the Year award. They have been the most consistent performer in this award since its inception, being 4th in its inaugural year, then 1st, 2nd, 2nd and now 1st again.

They are the only media organisation to have placed in the top five every year in the award’s history. Not only are they ratings champs, they are clear favourites with Perth’s senior media managers (who vote for this award), for their service and efficiency as well.

The Top Ten were:

1.   Southern Cross Austereo

2.   Media Tonic / oOh! Media

3.  Channel Nine

4.   The Sunday Times

5.   APN Outdoor

6.   Nova 93.7

7.   Netwrok TEN

8.   Adshel

9.   ninemsn

10. The West Australian

And 303Lowe’s ‘Enjoy The Ride’ campaign for the Office of Road Safety added to that agency and client’s dominance of the night by taking out the Campaign of the Year award, which recognises strategic thinking, creativity, effectiveness and integration across media platforms.

There were two other finalists for the award – IKEA ‘Rent’ also by 303Lowe and Curtin University ‘Brightest Minds’ by The Brand Agency.
