Office of Multicultural Interests introduces new marketing award for multiculturalism in WA
Each year, the Office of Multicultural Interests, as part of the Department of Local Government and Communities, holds the WA Multicultural Recognition Awards to acknowledge individuals and organisations for their contribution to multiculturalism in WA.
This year, there is a new award that recognises outstanding contribution to Multiculturalism in Marketing. New Australia Day WA CEO, and former Brand Agency Director, Morgen Lewis is encouraging all clients and agencies to look back on their body of work over the last 12 months and consider how they handled cultural and linguistic diversity within their campaign or marketing effort.
“Acceptance and celebration of our diversity has been the underlying theme for Australia Day 2016 and with around one in four Australians born overseas, it’s more important than ever to embrace our multiculturalism.” said Lewis. “After 24 years in advertising on both Agency and Client side, I know first-hand that cultural diversity is top-of-mind when producing campaigns and there should be no shortage of great work that qualifies for this new award category.”
The new award is for marketing activity in the area of public relations, advertising, social or broadcast media that has been effective in creating a campaign that acknowledges the value of cultural diversity in its message and imagery.
