The Oasis Ball: Don’t forget it’s for our charity
The 2013 Oasis Ball blasts off tomorrow night from 6.30pm at the Crown Perth Grand Ballroom.
It’s shaping up to be a sensational night and we’re all getting excited about the dress, the awards, the party, but let’s remember the point of it all is to raise funds for The Salvation Army’s Crossroads West program.
These guys do truly amazing work with young people to help get their lives back on track, and our fundraising makes a huge contribution to their efforts.The more we raise, the amazing-er their work can be.
There are several ways to help this fantastic cause at the Ball and everyone can make a contribution.
The Major Auction
WA’s very generous media organisations have donated over half-a-million dollars worth of television, radio, press, out of home and online media packages, metro and regional. Plus there’s a couple of $5,000 vouchers for the Bose store in Subiaco (some very sexy electronics in there). Plus those Qatar Airways Business Class flights. Come on ‘big end of town’ – get into it.
The Silent Auction
The Silent Auction has something for everyone. From an end of year cocktail function at Crown to tickets to the Art Gallery of WA’s current ‘Picturing New York’ exhibition.
There’s that bottle of Grange from Ken James, and check out the ‘Chairman’s Dozen’ – a selection of wine donated by senior people from the industry.
Remember, bidding is via SMS this year so bring your phone, warm-up your thumbs and get texting. You’ll be able to monitor exactly how you’re bids are going throughout the night, no matter where you are.
The Art Auction
This is a real highlight of the Ball and once again there will be some fabulous art on display – including this picture by one of the Crossroads West kids, Emma.
“I decided to take up painting about a year and a half ago when one of the youth workers said she would teach me. She told me when I paint I’ll go into my own world and lose time. She was right. I have found when I paint I think of nothing except what I am painting. I decided to paint a Geisha because they are such beautiful and strong woman. I hope you enjoy my version of a Geisha as much as I do.”

In all, twenty-one pieces have been donated so there’s bound to something that would be perfect for that blank space on your wall.
The Raffle.
Thanks to Channel 7, there’s $7,000 worth of Harvey Norman vouchers up for grabs in the Raffle. But this year, instead of 1 prize draw there will be three: 1 for $5,000 and 2 for $1,000 each. If the Major, Silent and Art auctions are a bit out of reach, at least you can buy a raffle ticket. They’re only $20 each or $50 for 3.
Just imagine – if every one of the 750 people coming to the Ball bought just one ticket each, we’d raise $15,000 from the Raffle alone. Surely we can at least do that.
Gold Coin donations for…
There are a few places at the Ball where a gold coin donation will be required.
There’s the Evoke bar in the Ballroom that will be serving sensational Belvedere vodka – for a gold coin donation.
There’s the Evoke photo booth just outside the ballroom where you and your gang can have your photo taken – for a gold coin donation.
And ladies, there’s the VIP Lane stylist lounge where you can have your hair and make-up touched up in the course of the night – for a gold coin donation.
So be generous, dig deep and remember what it’s all about. We can help make a big difference to some young lives.
