NY photographer Phil Toledano and Foxtel drama exec Carly Heaton to join Emergence line-up

Two new keynotes have been added to the Emergence Creative Festival lineup for 2018, comprising renowned New York photographer Phil Toledano and Foxtel Australia’s Drama Executive, Carly Heaton.

Toledano’s photographs have been published in Vanity Fair, The New York Times magazine, The New Yorker, Harpers, Esquire, GQ, Interview, Wallpaper, The Sunday Times magazine, The Independent Magazine and Le Monde however his work varies in medium from photography to installation, sculpture, painting and video.

Since 2004 he’s had more than 15 solo exhibitions and 35 group shows. His work has been shown at festivals around the world and he’s published seven books.

In one of his latest projects named The Many Sad Fates of Mr Toledano, the photographer spent three years imagining and creating the possible dark futures that may await him, using prosthetics, DNA tests and a fortune teller to face his fears.

Festival Director Erin Molloy said she’s excited that Toledano will be rounding out the New York contingent of keynotes at this year’s festival.

“We’re pleased to be able to attract some of the creative industry’s best and brightest all the way from New York, with Phil Toledano, Justin Gignac and Ian Strange all flying in for the conference.”

Carly Heaton joins the keynote line up from Foxtel Australia, where she develops and produces some of Australia’s best TV dramas.

Heaton worked as a Creative Director at Foxtel for six years, creating some of the most awarded work in the country before moving over to TV drama production two years ago.

The Emergence Creative Festival runs from March 21 – 24 in Margaret River.
