Lara Sinclair from the Australian reports that News Limited is setting up a cross-media branded content agency in February that will be headed by former group director of marketing Joe Talcott.
Talcott, who is currently the only employee of the as-yet unnamed division, said the agency would develop creative ideas, editorial concepts and advertising elements spanning a range of media channels, and would pitch them to advertisers.
Talcott will be replaced as group marketing director by former chief of content and commercial for News Digital Media, Ed Smith.

So correct me if I’m wrong, News are about to compete directly with agencies?
“the agency would develop creative ideas, editorial concepts and advertising elements spanning a range of media channels, and would pitch them to advertisers.”
Sounds like what happened to design back in the 80’s.
Printers employed designers to work directly on their annual reports, some making direct contact with the clients and cutting out the ‘middle man’.
Of course most said they were just expanding their art-rooms.
Loyalty went straight out the firkin window.
Sw………..eet.
Great, wanted to hear this, simple matter exists…..
Ad agencies charge too much for their work, an most of it lately is very ordinary…
