News Corp Australia boosts WA sales team

Angela Smith (far left) has been appointed sales manager – direct focused on driving revenue for News Corp Australia brands with direct advertisers.

Sharmini Poulsen (centre) has been appointed sales manager – agencies responsible for managing the relationship between News Corp Australia brands and WA agencies.

Claire Fenner (above right) has has been appointed customer solutions manager leading insights and trade marketing strategies within WA to support product development and advertising solutions

All three report to News Corp Australia’s WA sales director, Rebecca Lassen.

“The combined experience, knowledge and skills of Sharmini, Angela and Claire greatly enhance the capabilities of the News Corp Australia sales team in WA,” said Lassen. “Sharmini and Angela have a strong history in sales and account management within the WA market, nationally and abroad while Claire’s background in strategy and analytics is robust. I’m delighted to be welcoming them all to the team.”

The appointments are effective immediately.

 

While News Corp Australia’s sales team in WA are the key representatives for PerthNow and The Sunday Times, the sales team also provide local advertisers access with the company’s national brands including The Australian, taste.com.au, the Herald Sun and Vogue Australia.

 

Sharmini Poulsen

Poulsen re-joins News Corp Australia after almost eight years from the West Australian Symphony Orchestra where she was corporate partnerships manager. Prior to that role, she spent six years in various sales and marketing roles including at Fairfax Media in Melbourne and Eurobeat International in London. She initially joined News in 2004 working as an agency account manager for The Advertiser and Sunday Mail in Adelaide.

Ms Poulsen said: “I am excited to be returning to News Corp Australia where I commenced my media career 10 years ago. I look forward to meeting Perth’s local agencies and clients during this exciting period of growth and change in WA and collaborating with them on innovative and creative ad solutions.”

Angela Smith

Smith has a rich history in the WA media market. She comes to News Corp Australia from Aspermont Limited where she spent two years as national sales manager. Before Aspermont, she spent 11 years at West Regional Sales – six of which were spent as general manager of the division.

Ms Smith said: “The Sunday Times and PerthNow are terrific brands in the WA market with a strong vision for an exciting future. It’s a great time to be joining the team and working with our direct customers to reach their engaged audience.”

Claire Fenner

Fenner has a strong background in strategy, research, analytics and planning with over eight years commercial experience based in Perth and London.  She joins News Corp Australia from the WorkFocus Group where she spent two and a half years as a strategic analyst reporting to the Board. Fenner has previously worked at local creative ad agency Block Branding, as well as market research firms Circle Research and Synovate.

Ms Fenner said: “The passion and energy in News Corp Australia’s advertising team in WA is infectious. There is immense opportunity to build compelling solutions for advertisers. I am looking forward to working with the team in bringing these to market.”
