News Corp Australia appoints Jay Morris as new WA Sales Director, replacing Rebecca Lassen

JayMorris_BLOG.jpgThe managing director of The Sunday Times and PerthNow, Michelle d’Almeida, today announced the appointment of Jay Morris (pictured) as News Corp Australia’s WA sales director. Morris will be responsible for the driving the commercial and advertising strategies for The Sunday Times and PerthNow; and leading News Corp Australia’s national sales activity for Western Australian advertisers.

 

News Corp Australia’s WA sales team also give local advertisers access to News Corp Australia’s entire suite of multi-platform brands including The Australian, Escape.com.au, Taste.com.au, Vogue Australia and Herald Sun.

 

Morris, who will report to d’Almeida, joins News’ WA team from the company’s South Australian team where he was metropolitan sales manager for key accounts and agencies.

“Jay is a strong leader with an extensive background in advertising sales at an executive level,” said d’Almeida. “He knows and understands News Corp Australia’s vision and products having been with the company for over six years. He is a strategic sales professional with a strong track record in leading teams and developing innovative customer solutions. I’m delighted to be welcoming him into the WA leadership team and having him as the leader of our sales team.”

 

Morris has over 15 years of commercial experience across Australia and around the world. Having started his career at Coca-Cola Amatil in New Zealand, Mr Morris moved to the UK where he worked at The Metro Newspaper in London and Dublin. In 2008, he joined News Corp Australia as NSW group sales manager at The Australian before being promoted to NSW group state manager of the newspaper. He joined the News Corp Australia team in South Australia in 2011.

Morris succeeds Rebecca Lassen who is leaving the company to make a change in her career direction.
