New Make Smoking History from Gatecrasher
The latest Make Smoking History campaign highlights the fact that ingredients like sugar and honey are commonly added to cigarettes, making them more palatable and easier to smoke. It also reinforces the many serious health effects associated with smoking and encourages smokers to make a quit attempt.
The campaign is composed of television and magazine placement throughout Western Australia.

Oh, I thought it was another HBF spot.
This ad is fantastic. Well done guys.
great work guys
I’m a smoker and it made me nervous. So I popped outside for a ciggy, because cigarettes make me feel more confident. Don’t get me wrong, I think the sweet angle is a step in the right direction. It reminds you that smoking is absolutely crazy, and that we are being manipulated, mentally and physically. But the tried, tested and failed route of showing dying people is counterproductive. Scaring people into quitting smoking is as effective as bombing people into peace.
Really nice work Gatecrasher. Up there with “Nice People” (well done John, Jad & Lachlan).
8:05 – why don’t you quit? What would motivate you to give up a habit that is effectively inviting cancer into your body? Speaking as someone who doesn’t smoke and had cancer trust me, there is absolutely no more terrifying news… so if fear doesn’t work – what does?
This one’s good too:

great ad and the simplicity works beautifully.
but, as a non-smoker, i just dont know if this fear tactic works anymore? it doesnt seem to stop people and my friends who are smokers just turn the blind eye. i definitely think more needs to be done with the younger ones who havent started smoking yet who can then put the pressure on their parents to quit (it worked on my dad…)
great ad, beautifully shot.
im still a bit cynical though as to whether the fear tactic works, my friends that smoke just turn a blind eye. and im not sure the proposition (that cigarettes having honey and sugar in them) would make someone want to quit?
this is a good ad too

I agree 1.54 it is beautifully shot and it is a very powerful technique.
I think this is the best example of it ever.
