New book by John Le Cras reveals how the Court of Public Opinion really works
Few people outside the news business know the name John Le Cras … but almost every West Australian will have seen his work.
Now Le Cras has shone a bright light on how the Court of Public Opinion works – or should work – in WA. Le Cras worked his way up the ranks from newspaper reporter, TV reporter, news producer and finally Director of News and Current Affairs for Channel Seven Perth.
Then, in his own words, he “crossed to the dark side” and became an accidental marketer.
In his new book, IdiosynCRASy, Le Cras launches a series of entertaining and educational rants aimed at changing perceptions of public relations practitioners, marketers and business leaders.
“I wrote this book to stir up ideas, to get people thinking about things differently,” said Le Cras. “In some ways I’m a bit of a communications anarchist: I don’t have much time for rules … but I think I’ve got a fair idea of what works … and what doesn’t.”
This book could not be written by anyone else. Only someone who has spent decades at the top of their craft, switched sides, and then spent another decade as one of WA’s foremost marketing and PR practitioners, has the inside knowledge to cut through the noise and break down misconceptions.
