Meerkats picked up the State Agency of the Year title from AdNews last night at a presentation evening held at Star City. Ikon picked up their big Agency of the Year Award and Belgiovane Williams Mackay took out Creative Network of the Year. See more HERE.

Congratulations Mike and Ronnie – Well deserved!! 🙂
Really???? I know they have done some decent creative…..But they chose to place all their Media through Mindshare Melbourne. Showing so much dis-respect for our industry that I am embarrased they are an actual Perth agency!
I read that this is a Perth agency with 100% staff retention.
Here’s a company that has good solid foundations, with a long term vision.
Nice work boys.
Great news – well done to everyone at Meerkats. I for one am really pleased to see Perth agencies doing well on the national stage.
And, can we please get over the media arrangement? Let’s move on.
OMG get over yourself anon Meerkats are quality plus they are down to earth, nice people who do what’s best for their clients..go Meerkats you deserve it!!!
Nicely done guys. Gotta worry that Ikon (???) and Belgiovane Williams Mackay were the other big winners. Hope it’s not the kiss of death for the big one.
Tony, the media arrangement IS a big issue in the media. Your media department will be able to confirm that.
Well done guys. Good for you, and good for the rest of us that work in the industry in WA.
Can someone explain the “big” media issue to us non-media people?
Agreed 10.40 and as for DDB over CLems for Victorian agency oty???
10.40 – ‘The big one’..?
The CB Agency of the Year. I’m sure Meerkats are in the running but maybe 303 and Gatecrasher have the edge.
1.36 – dont forget the Brand!
For those of you who ‘don’t understand’ the Media issue.
1. No media = No jobs = people haing to leave the state to be able to work! Pretty simple really. Imagine if Account Service and Production moved to the east – where would you be? Out of a job
2. Taking media out of the state has a ‘snowball’ effect across all business partners. eg. Local media moves out of the state – people loose jobs – companies loose revenue – this inturn effects their turnover and putting people off
1.04
If our local media buying is as bad as our spelling it is little wonder we are “loosing” business over east.
Congrats Meerkats! Who are the art directors there these days?
To be fair, media people are there to crunch numbers, not spell… lets (let’s?) leave that to the copywriters 😉
confused as to the criteria for this award – haven’t u gotta win awards and business? wasn’t hbf last year? surely 100% staff retention is not grounds for an award like this?
not saying meerkats aren’t a great agency but would have thought cummins (sapient) nitro would feel a tad hard done by?
100% staff retention. So NOBODY left last year. I might be picking nits, but I would beg to differ.
So enlighten us, who left?
OK well deserved but maybe AdNews needs to do its research better.
On the page 25 of their magazine it says Meerkats won HBF last year, while 303 did not lose any accounts. I think technically the HBF move was in 2008? Also, Meerkats apparently won Murdoch last year. Eh?
Anyway, both agencies had a good year so well done. I think CB would have picked up those anomalies.
