Meerkats shine in Cannes and bring home a second Silver Lion for their HBF TV campaign
What an outstanding time at Cannes for Meerkats! The agency has put Perth firmly on the map in Australia with their second Silver Lion at Cannes this year.
Hats off to the Meerkats for a tremendous accomplishment in firstly winning a Silver Lion in the Radio Category earlier in the week, and then to follow it up with a Silver Lion in the Film category just a few hours ago on the last day of Cannes.
This is a creative achievement that can’t be underestimated. No Perth agency has ever won more than one Lion in any one year previously and there has only been one other Cannes Silver Lion won by a Perth agency in the history of Cannes (Marketforce for “Nice People”). Looking through the screening of Silver and Gold last night, the standard was very high. Well done to all you Meerkats, I am extremely jealous. I managed to get Ronnie to drink a beer for each of you.
Well done guys. Awesome effort and a great result. Doesn’t seem all that long ago that the Perth ad community was laying into this campaign here http://www.campaignbrief.com/wa/2009/09/meerkats-breaks-new-hbf-campai.html#comments
It’s a funny old business, isn’t it?

If Meerkats can turn around the advertising on HBF in a year and go on to win multiple silver at Cannes, which of the following brands should expect the same of their agency in 2011?
Lotteries
RAC
Red Rooster
TAB
Cash Converters
Answers on a postcard, please.
4.51 not a big 303 fan then…?
Question:
All this praise for Kurt (well deserved mind you), but who was the art director on the spots?
I don’t think they have one.
4.51. Lotteries – has that even been placed yet?
Ronnie… I think you and I need to go shopping for a new wardrobe…hey I hear Diesel are expensive but good.
Well done. Congratulations.
