Marketforce retrench in wake of LandCorp, SGIO account losses

Marketforce has retrenched six people after the recent losses of LandCorp and SGIO. The retrenchments include account director Richard Beards and production manager Franca Pellegrini.
Marketforce recently lost its share of the LandCorp account when the state government land developer consolidated its business with The Brand Agency, and SGIO has centralised its marketing as part of a cost-cutting program by Sydney-based parent IAG.

that’s sad news.
Its a pity a company like that can’t be a little more creative, and think of a way of restructuring across the board to offset the account losses. Maybe a wage reduction across all staff, job sharing or reduced hours etc. Slashing and burning seems so 1980’s.
The scary thing is, this could just be the beginning.
Very tough times ahead for all agencies.
That’s awful news. These are both very capable employees and extremely decent people that would be an asset to any agency. I hope they find work soon.
Somewhere in a Subi pub, Steve Brown, Dale Simmonds and Neil Weekes and Franca and Richard are putting their heads together to form a shit hot new agency… between them they could scoop all the best accounts in Perth methinks…
Richard and Franca (and the unnamed others), all the best.
It always happens to the nice people with good work ethic?
Very sad news. Richard was fantastic and will be a major loss. I agree 10.01… get creative
i agree with 2:34 – all the ingredients are there!
It’s scary out there but hopefully it was a genuine retrenchment, unlike Steve Brown, who according to a few articles down was also retrenched from Linc as CD, yet today Linc are advertising for a new CD on Seek…I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that being retrenched indicates your position no longer exists…
Good luck to everyone looking, hopefully things will pick up soon.
strange choice getting rid of the bloke who led the successful ikea pitch for mf – about the only bit of good news for them this year!
Um, Carrick and Andrew might take issue with you about their Ikea pitch 8.15. And let’s see some other MF good news…. Adventure World, The West/CB Caxton comp win- again, 3 Outdoor Award gongs.
I’m sure the winning of adventure world, the caxton comp and 3 outdoor awards has helped ease the pain for richard, franca and all the others.
No agency likes retrenching but every agency goes through it in cycles. 303 retrenched some good people when they lost HBF and ikea. Brand when they lost Burswood. MF when they lost Landcorp/Tourism. I’m sure the smaller agencies go through it as well. Its a sad fact of business life. It doesn’t mean that the people lost are no good or that the people making these decisions don’t care.
