Marketforce duo Alida Henson + Megan Riley take out the $20,000 Southern Cross Austereo Radio Writers’ Award for City of Perth “Tap”

Radio Writers.jpgMarketforce creative team Alida Henson (far left) and Megan Riley (right) are $20,000 richer today having topped all other finalists in this year’s $20,000 Southern Cross Austereo Radio Writers’ Award.

The duo won for their City of Perth “Tap” Mothers Day radio spot, a commercial highly applauded by this year’s judges. The spot beat 26 other finalists in the competition that is now in its 19th year. As part of the prize City of Perth also wins $20,000 of value added airtime on the network.

The prize was awarded just a few minutes ago at a big Austereo lunch at Frasers Restaurant in Kings Park, hosted by network general manager Linda Wayman.

Brad Habib from Soundbyte was announced the Radio Producer of the Year for his work on the winning spot.

Soundbyte also were named Production Company of the Year – producing 16 of this year’s 26 finalists.

This year’s judging panel comprised Reed Collins – chief creative officer Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong. Dave Bowman – executive creative director Whybin TBWA Sydney. Steve Coll – executive creative director Havas Worldwide Sydney. Simon Veksner – Head of Ideas at Naked Communications Sydney. And Gary Tranter and Matt Cullen – Joint executive creative directors at Arcade Singapore.
