MarkPinney_BW_BLOG.jpgCarat Perth has lured PHD’s Group Global Strategy Director, Mark Pinney (pictured) home from London to take up the role of Carat Perth’s Head of Strategy, reporting into Managing Director, Adam Marshall, and newly-appointed Chief Strategy Officer, Sam Hegg.

Pinney and Marshall have a long history together, going back to 2006 when they both came to Perth and joined Initiative. At the time that agency was run by Debra Neve – now Group Business Director at Carat.

Pinney will take the lead on all campaign briefs received by the agency, with a particular focus on integrating market-leading thinking into the development and implementation of client campaigns.

Pinney comes to Carat with a wealth of agency experience in both Australia and the UK. He has recently relocated home to Australia following a two year stint as the Group Global Strategy Director for PHD International, managing the global communications strategy for GlaxoSmithKline.

Pinney should feel right at home in the WA media landscape, having previously held roles including Managing Partner of Maxus WA, Director of Channel Planning at Meerkats, and Head of Strategy at OMD WA.

“Mark is a unique talent,” said Marshall. “The last two years working in London have further honed his media strategy skills in a global setting, making him an even more formidable media thinker. Bringing his knowledge and skillset back to Perth will be a game-changer for our clients, and I am very excited to have him join the team.”

Pinney said he was excited to be returning to Perth and joining the Carat team.

“There is real ambition and drive within the team to build off its leading position in WA. I can’t wait to get started working with the team, their clients and partners to help drive one another’s success.”

Pinney will commence with Carat Perth on March 29.

The appointment comes off the back of a winning streak of $10m of new business wins and retention of Lotterywest for the Carat team, plus the local launch of new divisions in Out-of-Home and Search Engine Marketing.
