Liquor Barons reappoints SHED as their agency and launches ad to greet the royals
To mark the arrival of the young Royals in Australia, SHEDcsc has produced a topical ad for Liquor Baron’s promoting a special Crown Lager deal.
The ad also marks the return of Liquor Barons to SHED’s growing stable of clients. In their increasingly competitive market Liquor Barons have engaged SHED to develop a new brand strategy and creative platform.
SHEDcsc creative director and partner Drew Ridley said, “We enjoyed a great relationship with Chris Obrien and the Liquor Barons team in the early SHED days when we worked with them on several projects. As their network of stores continues to expand and the market becomes increasingly competitive, it’s time for a fresh creative and strategic approach. We’re excited about the challenge and are looking forward to working with them to continue to build the Liquor Barons brand.”

That’s a great ad for a shit beer!
So what’s their next ad….’ This Long Weeekend, the Barons invite you to get Royally f@!#ked up.’
Shame when a client changes for changes sake. The previous campaign with Don Hancey at least provided a point of difference to other liquor shops and people will remember it. This ad could roll out for any of the liquor stores and consumers won’t pick the difference. You never know the full story but hopefully whoever in charge had enough smarts and didn’t just go for a cheap play on the royals visiting.
Shame! I think you need a crowning mate. This looks like a topical one-off creative execution not a new campaign roll-out.
Anyway, who’s Don Hancey?
I always applaud topical ideas, nice to see an agency acting on its feet, although the ad itself isn’t very original…..Budweiser’ King of Beers’ used that visual many times over the years.
Sometimes when you have an idea that you think ‘it’s so simple it must have been done before’….well, in this instance it has.
