In case you don’t know these industry professionals, let us introduce you.
Nadia Owen (pictured top left) is currently Head of Meetings & Special Events at Women in Tourism & Hospitality WA.
Whilst her initials spell the word ‘no’, this is not a word that appears in Nadia Owen’s vocabulary. Daughter of world-famous microsurgery pioneer Prof. Earl Owen, Owen grew up in a high-performance household in Sydney, encouraged to question the ‘no’ and fight for the ‘yes’. Like father like daughter, Owen thrives on pushing boundaries in the name of progress, and actively challenges gender norms in business settings.
After finishing her Bachelor of Arts at The University of Sydney, Owen moved to London working in PR and Events across France and the United Kingdom. After 5 years she returned to Sydney for a year to do MICE events in Asia-Pac, then moved to Melbourne where she ran a boutique wedding venue for a few years before moving into stadia.
In 2017 Owen took the opportunity to move to Perth and set up the Meetings & Special Events (MASE) department at Optus Stadium, beating four Perth men to the job. Owen became the ‘Face of MASE’ at ‘The World’s Most Beautiful Stadium’ and became the primary voice of the venue through LinkedIn, building a significant following and revenue source through this channel.
Owen is on the management committee of “Women in Tourism & Hospitality, WA” and was a nominee for the Business News 40under40 in 2022.
Adam Marshall (pictured bottom left), CEO of Marketforce is originally from the UK, and started his advertising career in 1994 as a Junior TV Buyer at Y&R London. Over the following twelve years, Marshall’s career in London included senior agency and media owner roles. During this time Marshall won Unilever’s inaugural Media Person of the Year award in 2004 as well as buying the world’s first interactive television commercial.
Since immigrating to Australia in 2006, Marshall has held leadership positions at Perth’s largest advertising and media agencies. In 2013, he moved to Singapore to become Head of Trading Asia Pacific for Mindshare returning to Perth in 2015. Marshall became CEO of Marketforce Group in 2018.
In 2018 he was Campaign Brief’s Advertising Person of the Year. He is a Board Director of Breast Cancer Care Western Australia and charity FTT. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a member of their advisory board. He is also a former Chair of The Oasis Committee and the former Champion of the Perth Advertising & Design Club.

Brazier is also a dedicated leader for the Perth Advertising & Design Club, which is the leading club for the creative industries of WA with over 450 members.
Being passionate about communications, she has developed and diversified her skills working across integrated marketing sectors starting out in advertising then diversifying to marketing, public relations, digital and business development, including 6 years in the Sydney market.
Working across a number of high-profile consumer and corporate accounts within the healthcare, fashion, mining, automotive, banking, building, FMCG and retail sectors has helped her forge strong relationships and understanding of the client’s individual purpose and needs. Melissa Vella (pictured bottom right) is the WA State Manager Advertising Council Australia, and Committee Manager Producers Council.
With over 20+ years Marketing experience gained in South Africa and Western Australia, spanning across automotive, foodservice, manufacturing, FMCG and franchising, Vella understands the importance of workplace culture (first and foremost) to bring team members along any brand journey; great brand-building; sound strategy; and ultimately strong creative ideas to connect with consumers and clients alike.
4 years ago, Vella reached a juncture in the road and decided to join an industry she had always admired, taking on the WA State Manager role at Advertising Council Australia (formerly The Communications Council). This change has provided her with a unique opportunity to connect with some of the best local and national talent in the creative services industry through her involvement in a myriad of initiatives, events, projects and professional development programs. She is extremely passionate about supporting and encouraging newcomers to the industry and prides herself in delivering highly successful entry-pathway programs in the local advertising industry.
