Jan Hough.jpgThis week is the end of an era in Perth Media with the retirement of one of the industry’s stalwarts – Jan Hough.

Hough, who has worked at Mitchell & Partners since 2007, is retiring after an amazing 44 year career in the media planning and buying.

She started her career in Melbourne in 1970 working with with Monahan Dayman Adams (MDA) until 1972.  Hough then came home to Perth and got a job in a small agency which later became Ogilvy & Mather.

She spent just over 12 years at O&M before joining MDA Perth in 1985. MDA evolved into MOJO and she stayed with them until 1990 (ahh, CB remembers those great parties!!).

Hough then took a couple years out of the industry before joining Michele Eliott in 1992 at independent media buying consultancy The Media Shop. Eliott left in 1995, and she continue to run the business until 2007 when Harold Mitchell brought The Media Shop and merged it into Mitchell & Partners (now Dentsu Aegis).

Below – from the 1980s with Perth’s most senior media managers at the time. From left Else Marie Piggott, Michelle Elliot, Val Yeo, Julie Bailey, Jan Hough, Debra Neve and Lynn Gorer.  Both Michele and Lynne have passed away.
