TVW-7 won the week overall (0600-2400) for Total People with acommercial share of 43.1%, followed by NEW-10 with 28.9% and STW-9 with28.0%.
The top performing programme for the week against Total Peoplewas Seven’s AFL: Semi Final 2: Geelong vs Fremantle, which reached anaverage audience of 345,000 viewers. Seven’s Packed to The Rafters tooksecond spot with 240,000 viewers followed by the Seven News. Otherprogrammes on TVW-7 to make the top fifteen against Total People wereToday Tonight, Sunday Night, Beat the Star, Monday’s The X Factor andAFL: Semi Final 2: Geelong vs Fremantle – After the Game. Two newseries were introduced this week on TVW-7, Four Weddings and Beat theStar. The latter made the top fifteen against Total People with anaverage audience of 155,000 viewers.
STW-9’s top performing programmeagainst Total People was Top Gear with 148,000 viewers. The programmemade the top ten against all our demographics. Two and a Half Mencontinues to rate well, making the top fifteen programmes with People25-39 and 35-54.
NEW-10’s top programme for the week against TotalPeople was Tuesday’s Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, taking sixth spotand reaching an average audience of 184,000 viewers. Other programmesto make the top fifteen were Sunday’s Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation,Bondi Vet and AFL Finals: 1st Semi Final Western Bulldogs vs Sydney.Offspring grabbed third position with People 18-39, 25-39, 25-54 andfifth with People 35-54.
The daytime segment top five against TotalPeople was Seven’s AFL: Semi Final 2: Geelong vs Fremantle commencingat 5.30pm (Tarp 17.3) reaching an average audience of 305,000. Insecond position was Ten’s Tuesday News at Five followed by Ten’s AFLFinals 2010: 1st Semi Final Western Bulldogs vs Sydney from 5.00pm onSaturday. Fourth position went to Monday’s Ten News at Five and fifthto Sevens AFL: Elimination Final 1: Sydney vs Carlton.
There has been an increase in Australian produced dramas this year withthe Nine Network leading the way. Nine has committed $60m for dramaproduction including another Underbelly (4), Sea Patrol (5), Rescue:Special Ops (3) and Cops L.A.C. Seven and Ten have also invested inlocal productions with their most successful being Packed to theRafters, consistently in the top 10 programmes, and Offspring and RUSH.
THE CIRCLE SUMMER SERIES: ADVERTORIALS
NEW-10 is offering Advertorials for their best of The Circle from 2010.The summer series will commence on Monday December 13th 2010 and willfinish Friday January 21st, 2011 and will air from 10am to 12pm, Mondayto Friday. Each episode will host seven x Advertorials.

NINE ANNOUNCES THE ARRIVAL OF GEM
The Nine Network will launch GEM on September 26th, a generalentertainment and movie channel. Their focus will be on Females 35+ andGrocery Buyers. Programming will offer classic comedies, cherisheddrama series, all time favourite movies, sport and current affairs.

- 94.5 set a new Australian radio record by rating number 1 for 87consecutive surveys over the past 11 years. Previously the record wasset by B105 in Brisbane. They are the number one station with People40-54 and 55-64. The station lost share with People 10-17, 18-24 and55-64.
- 92.9 gained share and remain second in the Perth market. There wereincreases against all demographics, most notably with People 25-39(+2.0%) which now puts them in number position for this important demo.They also increased share against all day parts except for Drive wherethey lost 1.4%.
- 96FM lost share against People 25-39 and 40-54, however, theyincreased share by 4.2% against People 55-64 (not really their market)and 2.1% for People 10-17. 96FM lost share across all day parts, with aminor increase in Drive only.
- Nova dropped share slightly against People 10+ and across alldemographics except People 40-54 where they gained 2.1% share. They’veslipped into number two position for People 25-39 behind 92.9FM.
- 6PR are the number one station for People 65+ although dropping 3.8%.They increased share with People 10-17, 18-24, 40-54 and 55-64. Drivewas the only day part to increase in share.
- 6IX lost 0.3% share overall. They gained a small increase with People 25-39 and also in the Afternoon and Drive sessions.
- 6JJJ increased share with People 18-24 (1.6%). There were slightdecreases across all other demographics with a slight decrease of 0.2%overall.
BANZAI
Banzai is an online sports lifestyle destination dedicated to theparticipation and competition in active and adventure sports. It willdeliver comprehensive information and results for upcoming events andis targeted at active men aged 18-44. The site is currently heavilyinvesting in content. It is hiring top athletes to participate inblogging, providing lots of video, and providing the latest events andresults. It’s only a month old, but already it’s pulling in decentvolumes of traffic.

NIELSEN’S MOBILE MARKET INTELLIGENCE RESEARCH
Partly as a result of the federal election, mobile traffic increased by19% last month, with most traffic going to the major news publishers. Nine News, via ninemsn.com, enjoyed the biggest increase, up 27% fromJuly, followed by Fairfax Digital’s SMH and The Age sites, up 21% and18% respectively, and News Digital Media’s news.com.au, up 18%.
ADEX EXPENDITURE BY MEDIUM
The following are the latest Adex % increases by channel for the periodJanuary-August 2009 vs 2010. With the election monies being included inthe August figures we’ve seen an improvement in the market of anadditional 2% vs January-July 2009. Out of Home continues to be the bigwinner YOY.
